Celeborn and Galadriel separated in the past for long amounts of time. So they could just have had a falling out (maybe over Galadriel’s quest?). The real twist would be if Celebrian already exists. Though I’d be really annoyed with that from a characated perspective. Galadriel already having a kid seems important.

Yeah, nothing makes me feel old quite like my sadness over the death of IP-specific forums and message boards. It was easier to avoid toxic people.  Though they grew their own toxic people too, I guess.

I don’t think people really use forums much anymore. It’s Reddit or tumblr or Twitter.

I’m so excited to see this.

It’s painfully nerdy, but I’m not sure if blond hair is really the standard for special status. The most “beautiful” people in Tolkien tend to be black-haired (e.g. Melian, Luthien, Arwen, Morwen, the Numenorian aristocracy and everyone descended from the Numenorian aristocracy). Which is cute, since his wife had

That would be nice, but I’d really love to discuss the show in a fandom context without regularly dealing with racist misogynists. It’s hard to even discuss the show critically without having horrible people “agree” with you for the worst reasons.

I can think of far more unpleasant people than “progressives”.

You mean except for Eos, the goddess of the dawn who birthed Memnon, King of the Ethiopians?

Yeah, I have “free” HBO through AT&T as well. Only reason I have it, honestly.

I think that reflects that many more people have prime than have HBO (unsurprisingly). I mean, I’ve had Prime for year because I want free shipping.

I’m waiting on HotD until it’s over (so I guess potentially years in the future). I like RoP so far, though it still feels “fun but inconsequential” right now.

I mean yeah obviously. He was willing to handle it if the goal was destroying it. Didn’t mean he wanted to touch it regularly.

I kind of chose to allow it on the assumption that they didn’t want to look at or touch an evil sword?

I’m going to be really disappointed if Hal is Sauron or if he and Galadriel have a romance.

We also have better taste. Some Like it Hot is delightful.

I bought a digital copy of it when it was briefly available on Amazon. So I watch it every year. Edie Izzard is amazing.

I’m just here sulking because Mockingbird Lane didn’t get picked up.

Sadly, not an option she was given. The Valar were pretty explicit. But, if I nerd out, I assume it wasn’t an option because all of Melian’s descendants were children of illuvatar.

I always thought it was interesting that Earendil wanted to be a human and only chose to be an elf because Elwing wanted to be an elf. It makes me think Elrond would feel even more distant from his father since he also wanted to be an elf.

Yeah. Right now, I’m visually loving the aesthetics of Numenor, but it feels a bit like they soft-pedaled how powerful they were. They are not a hermit kingdom of fading power, they’re an aggressive imperial force strong enough to be a serious threat to the elves and to Sauron himself.
