I really loved these books so I’m excited for this story. It’s interesting that they seem to have switched a few aspects of Leaphorn and Chee’s personalities…

I think we’re meant to think that he has sores from shack abrasions (they can cause scarring and other things). But after one gross shot, they didn’t do much with it.

I do not understand the Mike-is-a-terrible-boyfriend narrative at all.  He’s a young teenager who consistently wrote LETTERS to his girlfriend, regularly and consistently and we’re supposed to be mad at him because he wasn’t sufficiently effusive? Also, the whole

I think the joke was that bat=club. Which is … strained to say the least.

You think they’re doing this out of the kindness of their hearts? That’s adorable.

Don’t be dim. They always want racists’ money if they can get it without losing other money. The question was whether racists’ money is worth the hassle that comes with it. If it’s not, then the next question is how to defang the racists. Some PR people recommend ignoring (eg. “Never complain, never explain”) and

Five years? What? What are you babbling about? You’re confused they didn’t go back in time to fix what they did then? To apologize? Why would they even care? Their a flint hearted business.

It was. Which is why they are changing their approach now. What are you talking about? This isn’t that complicated. They tried an approach, saw that it didn’t work, so they pivoted to a different approach.

Yeah, since it’s supposed to be El of the present revisiting her old memories, it made sense that she’d be like her newer self at times. I actually thought that the way the character warped back and forth between older and younger versions of El increased the sense that you were in a memory. It worked for me!

For me, it fit with the show. I liked that it created a tapestry of antagonists: supernatural, high level government, and then all the way down to a small town mob.

What are you babbling about? Did you not read my comment? PR went from thinking the issue was something they could ignore and have it go away (like the usual horrible celebrity babble), to realizing ignoring it was destructive to their bottom line and, ALSO, miserable for the celebrities.  So now they act sooner.

Rather disingenuous response. Knowing “racism is bad” isn’t the same thing as knowing what the most effective PR response to racism is. “Ignore it rather than give it oxygen and attention,” probably made sense as a strategy in theory until everyone saw that it doesn’t work and is miserable for the target of the

Presumably what changed is they saw how bad it could get if left unaddressed so now they are acting early. Isn’t that how things usually work?

I really like that P&P manages to be very romantic while also grappling with the practical realities that marriage is also a financial arrangement. And what that can mean to different people and different marriages.

If Wickham were around today, wouldn’t he be a creep hanging out around high schools?

Erica is the worst kind of precocious kid character. This show usually gets the kid-characters right, but she is so tiresome.

Apparently they used de-aging software. I think the results worked well for the most part.

Did you miss the date this review was published?

I still like the first season best, but I think this one has been pretty great. Certainly better than Season 3. I was also impressed by how fun it was to visit the characters and the new characters were by and large very charismatic.  The villain also really worked for me.

I just fastforwarded everything to do with Hopper. So tedious.
