I totally agree with the assessment that JL is not a performance, it seems to just be who Dex has become. He’s a persona born out of guilt that finally overwhelmed Dex at the of s8, and i think he’s meant to essentially be an authentic personality.
I liked it well enough. I was hoping for a more complex take but “Dexter kills asshole of the week” is a fine jumping off point. I just hope they do more than that with the season.
So why can’t Brainy return to the 31st century in 50 years, after he and Nia have had a long, full life? I mean as long as he gets there it doesn’t matter when he leaves for it, right?
Anyone else just freaking love Behrad at this point? He doesn’t get a lot to do, but everything he does is golden. He’s just the supportive stoner bro with immaculate hair (who looks great in clown makeup… nobody looks great in clown makeup) who’s there to help you out with gummies and pep talks.
This was the first episode where Beth didn’t annoy me. It’s not the actor’s fault, the character is just written in such a one-dimensional way that it was hard to find much depth to her. With her putting her parents in their places and confidently going to protect Cort’s family, she finally got some much needed…
If loving Michael Mary Sue Burnham is wrong, I don’t wanna be right. That simple “mm hmm” tells me this gonna be a fun ride.
Kara’s test was easy: don’t run (fly) away from the plane crash. Let the news helicopters and the passengers and the world see that Kara Danvers is Kryptonian.
Honestly the Dorothy storyline was SUCH a drag. “Poor little ominpotent girl dealing with her coming of age” could have worked for one episode, maybe a two-parter, not a whole season.
Agree! Shade is the Man and the actor is killing it. I love “the bad, not evil” approach he’s taken and I think he’ll wind up helping more than harming, hopefully with a genius little backstab at some point.
I like that Supergirl is leaning full into the social justice angle, but damn I miss scenes like her fight with Reign. Nyxly isn’t going to be one of those types of villains.
Caroline, I could not agree more. This was the most frustrating episode of the season.
Definitely looking like Constantine will wind up being the big bad. Hopefully Legends handles that better than Buffy did.
Doesn’t Angelus explicitly identify as straight when he’s brought back by his team to give information on The Beast in season 4? He’s talking shit to Wesley about his new rugged good looks and basically says “man, if I swung that way.” (Meaning that he does not find men sexually attractive). Then he outs Wesley’s aff…
This series is part of a larger story. It’s literally in the name: Star Wars: the Bad Batch. You’re going to have a hard time understanding what’s going on if you haven’t followed the others, it’s not like clone armies and Kaminoans and laser-sword-wielding space wizard monks and inhibitor chips are common tv…
I particularly loved when Lois tells Clark about her day. He doesn’t get possessive or angry or super protective, he’s just like OMFG THATS CRAZY so what’d you learn?
I wonder if it’s possible that Wheedon will return to the show after things die down a bit? I mean he’s not Kevin Spacey evil and James Gunn seemed to rehab himself pretty well.
Articles like this are why I avoid Jezebel like the plague, it only showed up when I was checking io9.
Really? I love Donnelly in this. She’s understated and subtle, sure, but she’s got such nuance to her. Every line seems to have 3 meanings, and she conveys more with a look than many do with a monologue.
