Sure, if Trump’s popularity plummets with his base, then I’d agree impeachment would be likely. But I don’t see that happening, especially over this Russia stuff (which they write off as fake news and likely don’t care that much about anyway, so long as they think — mistakenly, of course — that their guy is sticking

Ha, fair point! This one’s easier than ACA repeal though (I think).

Much worse. He’s been in high-30s in Gallup throughout his presidency.

Given that impeachment depends on action from House GOP, I would recommend managing expectations. Hope I’m wrong though.

I worry we might be on that road already, Pelosi or no Pelosi.

Yes, I think it’s definitely true that most Rs would prefer Pence to Trump. But that’s a far cry from impeaching your party’s sitting president — particularly when he has a rabid following who would do everything they could to primary you if you flipped on him. He’d have to be REALLY unpopular for Rs to actually

Just so she could impeach Trump? That would be amazing :)

Yup. My only quibble with what you said is that the chances for impeachment are actually not that bad...essentially the same chance as the Ds taking the House (because if they do take the House, they will vote to impeach on Day 1). But the odds of the Senate CONVICTING under the House articles of impeachment are

The Senate vote is the “trial;” there is no separate action in court. House votes to impeach, Senate votes to convict. That’s the process.

We’ll see. I’d bet a lot of money against it. I think people overestimate how “unpopular” Trump is, especially in red states where a lot of these Senate impeachment votes need to come from. Even if he fell to low 30s (hard to imagine), he’ll still have majority support in a lot of states.

Find me 15 R senators that

IMO, if the Ds take the House under her watch, it’s her job to take or leave (and I can’t imagine she’d turn it down). The job requires a mastery of legislative maneuvering, and there is nobody better than her on the D side (save perhaps Harry Reid).

Yes, for sure. I honestly can’t imagine a scenario where this would go past Trump (again, you’d need 15+ GOP senators to convict each person, which is hard enough to imagine for Trump much less Pence, who most conservatives love).

Neither is likely, but I disagree . The only way impeachment proceedings will commence is if Ds are in charge of the House. Paul Ryan will never initiate the process; that seems pretty clear at this point. And if Ds are in charge of the House when the shit goes down (again, unlikely), then order of succession stops

Impeachment ain’t happening unless Ds take the House in 2018 (and even if it did, have fun flipping 15 Rs in the Senate to convict). But if that were to happen and Pence was implicated too, the new President would be someone not on your list: Nancy Pelosi.

Good lord, watching JR Smith and Shumpert defend that screen gives me the same level of frustration as watching my 4-year-old try to button his pants.

“It seems everywhere I go these days, some young fella’s jibber-jabbering about how great some ballplayer of today is. It’s always Mark McGwire this or Sammy Sosa that. Well, of course they’re the best. These modern big leaguers, with their blinding speed, cannon arms, and towering home runs–they’ve got it all. Back

DC fans: on the bright side, it’s not yet the first week of October, so the Nats are still alive.

Plus they would come in handy if he ate some bad pie before the event and threw up on the stage. #MakingConnections

I was surprised to see no mention of the Pacers/Pistons fight, as I think that also had a huge impact on how much “not a basketball play” violence is tolerated during the game, and how it is punished afterward.

But the first gif illustrates that it doesn’t always work.
