I agree with you. I think the first incarnation would be a little more novel. Also, as I said elsewhere in the thread I love Elizabeth Debicki and think she would be a great socialite-turned-villainess in the Cheetah part.

Kristen Wiig convinced me of her villain capability when I saw mother! Holy cow, small part but she did a lot with it.

It’s too bad she was already in Guardians 2, because Elizabeth Debicki would, IMO, be the perfect Cheetah. She was so badass in the Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Oh my bad, you’re absolutely right. I have no idea why I thought Outlander was on Sundance...

I have a soft spot for lady criminal comedies (like How to Beat the High Cost of Living, 9 to 5, etc.) so I’m going to watch it. Also, Mae Whitman and Retta are both great. It has the worst title, though—as bad as Trophy Wife or Cougar Town.

Why don’t more people watch Hap and Leonard?? People go ape over Outlander, same channel, they should watch Hap and Leonard.

Yikes, I just realized that by the time both my kids are in high school I’ll be 50.

Now playing

I got the impression she was focusing more on television the past few years.

The casting for the “angels” is straight up bonkers. I don’t get Reese Witherspoon or Mindy Kaling in those parts at all, so I’m really curious to see what they’ll be like. Oprah seems like a bit of stretch, too, but at least she’s got kind of a larger-than-life screen presence I would expect from an ethereal being.

Okay, let’s be real here, did you actually think The Federalist would review this movie positively? It has Oprah in it and a biracial couple.

Okay, you’re right. He wasn’t good. He was the only weak point, though, and he wasn’t all THAT terrible, just...not believable.

I feel like a good template for titling SNL review articles is “Even [Celebrity] can’t save a [tepid, flat, mediocre, disappointing, lifeless] Saturday Night Live.”

Jimmy Kimmel, heartless batter-er.

A simple trick to remember— “He preyed on him” “On WHOM did he prey?” “Him!”

See, I love Janney’s work, but her character was one-note in I, Tonya. The mother had one dimension: awfulness. There wasn’t any subtlety, and maybe that was the fault of the script rather than Janney, but she felt more like a caricature than a character. Now, she did a great job looking and acting like her, but there

Jimmy Fallon’s bland likeability is what makes him suited for hosting a talk show. He’s funny but not too interesting. He need to learn to not pull so much focus, though.

I’m glad Bram Stoker’s Dracula is getting a little more love as time goes on. I saw it in the theater and I remember it not being as well received as I would have hoped back then. It’s such a perfectly beautiful, atmospheric film. The cast is perfect. The makeup and the costumes are perfect. It’s a solidly faithful

I’m so psyched for Thoroughbreds. Olivia Cooke has been a busy lady between this and RP1. I love a good dark comedy.

What is it about the cast that you find offputting? I think it’s kind of an odd series of choices, but I like pretty much everyone in there...that said, WTF, I love Michael Peña but what an odd choice for that role.

I do love that book, but I’ve long believed it’s the “impossible to adapt” book. The writer here states that the trailer was impressive, but I disagree—it worried me, because it looked like a bit of a jumbled mess. A Wrinkle in Time has some concepts and scenes in it that I had a hard time picturing in my head just
