WHEN! ARE! YOU! FROM!
Richard Splett might be my favorite character on television. Everything he says has me howling.
Well, I guess no HBO series is truly complete without incest.
We’ve gone from satire, to too-on-the-nose, to straight through the nose and back into satire. “Is Lloyd still my dad?” That’s when I lost it.
Ten episodes would have made more sense. Seven is ridiculous for a show that has consistently delivered critical acclaim, amazing performances and (while I think these are silly) awards for HBO.
Dear lord how did I not know about this treasure? Thank you!
There already is one: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Veep
Anna Chlumsky has also been exaggerating Amy’s bad posture (already a running gag in the season with the personal trainer) more and more. By now her shoulders are at ear level and her head enters the room 3 seconds before the rest of her body.
From the various interviews I’ve read about this season, it sounds like there was a real scramble to make the season work when the episode order shifted down from 10 to 7. Seemingly this was the episode that became the primary site for “gluing together bits and pieces of different episodes” into one, and under those…
All hail the new mayor of Lurlene, IA! “Novelty mayors are Iowa’s number one source of income.” “Is that a mayor?” “No, that’s just a cat. This isn’t Nebraska!” I’ve never seen anyone as consistently delightful as Sam Richardson is on this show, especially contrasted with the noxious assholes he’s surrounded with.
I figured Dan spent the day with Amy for 3 reasons: 1. deep down I think he does actually care about her 2. he’s probably so excited she decided not to have the kid and 3. this isn’t his first rodeo
Yeah. While I kind of miss the reality of the first couple of seasons, in a backwards sort of way the heightened absurdity this season is the only realistic growth this show could have. Maybe I actually just miss... six years ago.
Even after she became president, there was still a sense that Selina had some idealism, that she did truly want to effect some positive changes in the US.
“We focus-tested the ad, and most people are uncomfortable watching a white man kick a black woman in the vagina.”
It doesn’t make me a dick because I understand what kind of show I am watching. This is a show that doesn’t need to normalize shit. This isn’t Shrill. It’s Veep.
I love how now people bristle if fictional character don’t get an abortion. Veep doesn’t give a shit about normalizing abortion. Whatever works for the story.
I think the “full-length mirror” line was more of a comment on Dan’s narcissism than Amy’s perceived lack of attractiveness, but I hear ya.
“You’ll be drowning in money so dark it would get shot going into its own apartment.” Ouch.
“I married my half-sister.”
