Sure, but with the focus on EVs, I’d think that ANY occurrence would be widely reported. Hell, I still remember those few cases, mainly with Fords, burning up in garages because of defects in the cruse control circuit (which stayed energized with the ignition off, FFS).

Yes, because people don’t already use a lot of electrical appliances and tools in their garage safely already. You can run a Tesla home charger using a 40 or 50 amp, 240 V circuit. That’s in line with electric water heater circuits, electric oven/cooktop circuits, and central air units. Sure, if you’re building a new

Based on their preferences, it’s highly unlikely that would happen.

My background is customer/production support for integrated circuits, and IT. It’s funny that my kids think that they know what they are doing, and that dad’s an old fart who doesn’t know tech. But then my son for instance, will say or do something that shows he has no clue about the underpinnings of the tech he’s

Yeah, I’ve always had a high success rate Googling solutions, probably because my programming background helps me frame the search better. Better than a lot of the younger crowd who’ve been brought up on the internet.

So what part do you disagree with? That all systems eventually become corrupt? I wasn’t limiting that statement to our two parties, a two-party system, or a representative Democracy.

I think you mean that the Jones Act prohibits a foreign ship take freight between two US ports. And cruise ships may be owned by US companies, but the ships themselves fly under foreign flags, IIRC. The practice is called Flag of Convenience.

It really doesn’t matter what system of government you choose. As soon as you set up a system, before the ink is even dry, you’ll have people figuring out how to game the system for their own benefit.

“It’s sounds petty, but Chinese people will do that to you just to make a point.”

I’m a typical Jalop, and proud of it.

4th Gear: So now there will be no reason for the manufacturer to not include a tach on the display of my new electric car. Uh, wait. OTOH, does this mean that manufactures will add features to the display, but only enable some of those features as part of an expensive upgrade package?

“I didn’t read any of this...”

Trump will likely get some concessions that don’t really amount to anything, and his supporters will point to that and say, see! It’s working! Meanwhile, we lose goodwill with our allies, screw up our own markets, and otherwise screw over anyone who’s not rich. You know, kind of like when some of his projects would go

You missed the point of the article. The type of vehicle that hits you makes a difference in survivability.

Federal safety regulators have known for years that SUVs, with their higher front-end profile, are at least twice as likely as cars to kill the walkers, joggers and children they hit...

The Ram doesn’t have the perceived reliability of the Ford and Chevy. Where I live, I see almost as many Nissan and and Toyota pickups as I do Rams. I admit that nationally that doesn’t seem to be the case.

If they could get the Ram pickup back to being a real contender to the Silverado and F150, they’d be real happy. Keep some of the SUV/CUVs and kill most of the cars like Ford did.

Shhh. No new taxes, remember?

I’ve always wondered why “big oil” hasn’t invested in renewables, just to hedge their bets.

So, increased costs in new cars, meaning increased taxes for the poor and middle class, but not so much for the rich. Guess we have to pay for those tax cuts and lower the budget deficit somehow.
