Having played Dragon Quests 1-7, I’d pick out 3, 4, 6, and 7 as the standouts. If you’ve got the time to sink into the whole series, it is a pretty interesting evolution. From purely one-on-one combat with exactly one save point for the entire game in DQ1, to multiple heroes with more specialized roles and multiple…
I know the consoles are hard to come by but when do we reach the point that next-gen is considered current gen? We’re already almost a year into it.
But they weren’t dead, and the island wasn’t purgatory. The flash sideways in S6 was set in the characters’ shared afterlives (and was a misstep, for sure), but the main island storyline had nothing to do with that.
I’m enjoying Supergirl and Batwoman, although the latter pissed me the fuck off. I’m watching Legends until the gotdamn wheels fall off because I love that ragtag bunch of misfits so much.
Not sure if you count it as Arrowverse, but Superman and Lois has been pretty good (I haven’t seen this week’s yet).
I’m sticking with Supergirl till the end cause it’s just a few more episodes to go and it’s been somewhat more fun - if, still, rather in the Berlanti “are we having fun yet?” kind of way.
I just wanted to announce to anyone who bothers to read this that of this week I finally dropped this fucking show from my rotation. Judging by this week’s score, it was a good idea. Honestly, I didn’t know why I tortured myself with it for so many years. I heard it’s a common occurrence, to hatewatch this show. I…
I was a very frequent commenter there back in 2014-2015 and the way I see it there’s a fairly straight line of radicalization that went through a certain console brand’s fan base to Gamergate to Pepe to MAGA white nationalism in the years since. The same strain of fanboy malevolence pervades in on the politics sites I…
I was reading an unrelated article on there earlier and the people in the comment section were having a meltdown about IGN sponsoring Palestinian terrorism. I only visit the site during slow news weekends, but it’s a shame how the first video games website I frequented as a kid is now a cesspit for xenophobes and misog…
“which he attended, at least in part, on a scholarship he received for his performance on his high school Quiz Bowl team.”
I haven’t attempted the Fists path in many, many, many years. I remember it having a few clever and unique puzzles/locations but basically being the weakest of the three, mainly because that combat system is rough.
I’ll be mixing things up with something a little more fast-paced: Sega’s beat ’em up follow-up, Streets of Rage 2. See you folks next time!
Yeah, classic id Software games really did rely on constantly being on the move to avoid damage , and with the way the genre has largely shifted to taking cover and getting a natural health recovery with no pickups required, going backwards is probably quite an adjustment.
I think Monica flew into the “bubble” on a SWORD copter but once you enter the bubble you are automatically rejiggered to conform to the reality Wanda is creating - so the helicopter turns into a toy, Monica becomes one of the townspeople - although her training and/or recent induction allows her to remember the real…
Those retro shooters are fun, but to me at least pretty much unplayable without a mod/sourceport that adds WASD or gamepad controls. I’ve been spoilt with modern UI design.
Really hoping the game length holds up to the price of it. I don’t regret only renting the original from Blockbuster once given I got my snaps of every pokemon and some decent scores all around. It was a solid game, and i’m sure this will be, but will wait for the reviews to see if I hold out for a sale.
When you think about it it’s extremely likely that M’Baku was already acting as king of Wakanda and Black Panther during the five year gap when T’Challa and his sister were dusted. He seems like the logical choice to step in if they’re not just going with Shuri.
Yeah, it’s funny watching someone die so much in a game and still being able to say, “Wow, this guy’s good!”
With the exceptions a few episodes that you can count on one hand the first two seasons of TNG are terrible and are generally regarded as such. The first season of Discovery was much more interesting than that.
