It’s the Ultimate Crepuscular Driving Machine!
There are a few reasons. Obviously impatience is one of them- having a truck today is more valuable than having a truck tomorrow, or in 18 months, etc.
But what you gain in certainty regarding options, you lose in other factors. No lender is going to promise to honor 2023 financing terms in late 2024, the value of your…
Toyota doesn’t really do “orders” - https://jalopnik.com/actually-getting-that-all-new-tacoma-with-a-manual-is-n-1850456148
Depends on your specific situation, and your wants/needs. If you’re the type that buys a car exactly when they absolutely must get into a new vehicle, this is very true - especially if your car was totaled in an accident, or had a catastrophic failure where repair vastly exceeds the value of the car. If you must have…
The problem is what you can buy is often a vehicle few want for good reason. They’re either unrefined, poorly designed, or unreliable
Former car salesman here. Most people don’t even do the first part. A solid 30% of my sales were to people who had no intention of buying a vehicle that day. Most were just starting that “reviewing specs” part and got swept up in the new car excitement and left with something new and shiny.
Yes. I was exactly the guy described in this article. I had deposits at two dealerships for an AWD Sienna LE. My deal-breaker criteria were: 1) AWD (we ski all winter) 2)hybrid/PHEV 3)Big enough for a family of 4 and a weekend’s worth of ski/camping gear. The Sienna seemed like the only option that fit the bill (even…
IMO, all people considering brand new cars should also consider a 1-3 year old version. Maybe now you can shop multiple trim levels and end up driving away in something you still really like, just a lot sooner.
what’s the line? people spend tremendous amounts of time reviewing the specs and reviews for all the data on what is ultimately an emotional purchase.
People need to also note that the average new vehicle is going to easily be reliable well past their ownership period.

Assuming it actually rolled and didn’t just start shedding parts in shame
Yeah, as much as I hate Tesla, this result is actually pretty good. There's no need to manufacture outrage. For all of Telsa's negative points, crash tests have never been a point of contention.
Depends on the intersection and varies pretty wildly. I do not work with them directly, but do design other underground utilities and frequently have to partner with the stoplight people. Can usually tell how functional they are based on the conduits and cabinets present. Some are fake (kinda like the door close…
Meh. Elon is an idiot and the Cybertruck is stupid, but if this is the result after a rollover test I’m not really going to get all ragey about it.
That may often be the case, but I have a few crosswalks near me that won’t illuminate the walk sign at all unless you hit the button (and then hold the light longer). And a couple lights that are on sensors that won’t change if there’s no car present, and the button overrides that to change the light and give you a…
From someone “in-the-know” (I’m an independent consultant for the auto industry with over 25 years experience) and also not a Tesla apologist, I can tell you that this thing actually held u quite well if this is from a rollover test. Ancillary parts are designed to be able to break off/break away with the focus being…
Yeah, my biggest memories related to the post-9/11 era weren’t unity, it was how jingoistic everyone really fast. We had to sing “Proud to Be an American” in our elementary school. For a while, everyone acted like the war in Iraq was fine and even in middle school I knew it didn’t make sense
Never, their jingoism included well-choreographed dancing by their soldiers. Sadly, America hasn’t let our soldiers bust any fresh moves since WWII.
I grew up Catholic with a mom who told me to question everything, but by 9/11 I was a 17-yr old living with my Bill O’Reilly-loving dad and stepmom.
