We bring up income inequality not as an excuse or as somehow giving permission. It is impossible to ignore that crime of all kinds, especially this sort of crime, directly relates to the size of the income gap.

I was unaware that Electrify America was part of Volkswagen’s detention. The fact that these stations do not work makes a lot more sense now - just as how the penmanship for when they had to write “I will not cheat on diesel emissions” 100 times was somewhat subpar.

Yep. I think Tesla already got us past the hump of EVs having been uncool; Lucid and everyone else are still fighting yesterday’s battles in trying to make EVs sporty and prestigious.

I’m sure it sounds weird, but does anyone actually need that power (especially Uber drivers)? If EVs are about saving the environment then I think efficiency should take the front seat. I would consider buying a small, cheap, EV wagon with ~150hp or so; one with buttons and manual controls. I have no interest in 1000hp…

People just watched too much science fiction. While sci-fi has often predicted things that ended up becoming true, humanoid robots are merely a plot device and it makes little sense to try to make them.

Germany has become very different to deal with when shipping from outside the EU. I sent a friend eight 3D-printed sets of automobile wheels in 87th scale, and two dashboards in the same scale. We are talking like three grams’ worth of plastic.

Worst comes to worst, I’ll ship one from Japan. I bought a ‘93 245 Classic 5-speed with 240K miles (!) and it was my daily for years. It saved my life when I fell asleep, driving home from grad school. RIP, Ylva.

Tekniikan Maailma always did the most serious tests of any motoring magazine. Like if Consumer Reports was run by serious engineers who also happened to love cars.

I recommend getting one of the gasoline-fuelled Eberspächer heaters that people used to put in Volkswagens.

Since the article doesn’t say the car has to be new (I’m reading carelessly on purpose), I’d find myself a Volvo 240/740/940 with less than 50K miles on it.

What about gravity?
