This article reminds me of why I admire Toyota so much. They care about their heritage, they care about what they’re doing. Everyone says they do, but action speaks louder than words. I also like that it will remain in use!

I like simple and minimalist because it implies lower cost and fewer things to break - but I don’t like it when it means lower functionality and the quality remains ho-hum.
I’m going to carry a ham with me at all times.
I was ready to pay $400 extra to get a white fridge specifically to avoid the pointless, stainless trend. Luckily, it seems that many others feel like I do and there are more and more offerings in white once again.
My dad almost bought a lightly used one in 1981 (like one year old), but visible rust on the body and undercarriage on an almost new car scared him off. Probably wise, but kinda sad.
My ‘93 Honda’s battery died (3yo opened a door and left it open when it was in the garage). It weighs 1499 lbs, so I pushed it towards a slight slope and then push started it on my own. Didn’t even break a sweat.
1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. It was my first car, I bought one more later (pictured), and I would love another one. One of the most unlikely cars to have ever been sold by a major company in the USA.
Yep, although the Echo is a particularly depressing one. I’d be more impressed by a Tercel. My sister bought a Yaris hatchback (5-speed) 15 years ago when she was waiting tables/in law school. She is a lawyer now, with a $1.5M house and two kids, and the Yaris remains her only car. She won’t get rid of it until it…
Tiny? It is exactly the same length as a Mercedes-Benz W124. Smaller on the inside, but if that was the only concern then I’ll nominate the Aston Martin Rapide.
Yep. Who thinks more Musk was the answer to Tesla’s problems?
I like how different it is but I would not say I find it attractive. It wouldn’t stop me buying one, if it was in a segment that interested me.
bUt WhaT abOUT the CybERtRucK???
I want that Lloyd, but I will need twenty years to save up for it.
Agreed... The owner contacted me on IG (I also own a bubble Today, see my avatar) when they bought it in June 2023 about registering it and I kept suggesting that she keep it stock. Car was in the Bronx last I heard, but NY won’t let you register kei cars any longer because kill-joy fascism, so it has VT plates (the…
Yeah! I do love it when strangers manage to find me and send pictures of me barreling down the highway at 53mph.
As for the Instagram handle, I agree, it feels like someone sniffing their own farts. No one likes your car enough to follow you.
Counterpoint: I would have never installed these on a car (they don’t look very nice) but both of my JDM cars came with them already installed. When you live somewhere rainy, it’s often very nice to be able to crack your windows without getting wet. I don’t think I will ever BUY rain visors and install them, but I…
I don’t reckon it’s particularly relevant how good your car is on a track. If you have the means and time to take your car to a track, then you can probably afford a dedicated track toy.
Actually, there are tons of external forces that push or cajole people towards going to college, good and bad.
I lived (with my wife and two kids) for several years in my in-laws’ attic; not a comfortable situation in the least and still paying $1000/mo, first while in grad school and then while I refinanced my student loans and kept paying to bring them down. I only graduated four years ago, so forgiveness was already on the…
