3rd Gear: I live not far away from two McLaren dealers and I am always amazed at how many cars they have in stock. I always wondered who went in and bought a McLaren off the rack? The large numbers of cars languishing on the lots always made them seem kinda cheap and desperate.

I wish we could have DUI checkpoints. Start regularly checking near any bridge-and-tunnel route after dark and you will catch thousands. From my experience, most drunk drivers start out careful enough, one glass of wine or two beers, thinking they’re within the limits. Zero enforcement until there is an accident makes

Are there any managers or executives left at Cruze?

I went to Taco Bell at 2am (not drunk, not high, just being 19). Cop sitting in the parking lot pulled out after us and followed my car for a few turns through a shopping center and then pulled me over, claiming I hadn’t turned on my blinker far enough ahead of an intersection. Obvious BS, they didn’t even try to give

Cars are not investments, though. I think the high repair costs (and possibly loss of time because of the spare parts issues) plays a significant part as well.

I drove a W123 240 Diesel in Greece which had served as a taxi for ten years in Germany, then taxi’d for another decade in Greece, and had then become the port hauler for the resort where I worked. Odometer had stopped, but that car had a million km on it at least, on the original engine. Nikos crashed it into a bus

Fewer guns in circulation would be a start.

I think “scandal” may be overstating matters. A touch hypocritical and unwise, perhaps.

I almost absentmindedly wrote figure skaters but then decided that synchronized swimming was funnier. Whew.

I do. I still don’t think an expensive, oversized vehicle is a good idea, but I hear what you say about this possibly having been a goal/reward thing.

Utter nonsense, obviously.

I mean, I’d like to think that if he is a reasonable person at forty then this shouldn’t preclude him from most jobs. I truly don’t think every crime should come with a life sentence.

This is why snowboarding should have never been an Olympic sport. You never see fencers or synchronized swim teams crash airplanes for clicks.

A very good point (although I think it’s more like -$5,000 since not all of them get it).

The last movie I saw that wasn’t animated (I’ve seen the My Little Pony movie eight times) was Ford v Ferrari. Hopefully I will be able to keep the boy uninterested in Marvel things, too.

You’ll have to take my word for it.

Bwahahahahah. That and all the tie-dye shit and the fluffy Jim Morrison blanket in the rear seat.

She also had a first-gen CR-X for four hours but our dad made her return it because of all the blue smoke emanating from everywhere. Currently drives a manual Yaris she bought 15 years ago; she sees no need to change it until it stops working. She had a Jialing NP50-GL for a while, too. I like my siblings a lot.

I dunno, I grew up in Skåne and judging by my dad’s reaction when we left a light bulb on, electricity was a precious, precious good, to be carefully rationed.

Justified or not, lots of buyers have concerns regarding battery life (and charging availability, which is more of an issue for used car buyers who are less likely to have their own driveway).
