I think, just spitballing here, that elbows off the table came out of two things:

It was less egregiously face-palmingly awkward in the 2nd season. The cast had started to gel. But I think TNG took a bit longer to truly course-correct and ascend in quality than DS9 did.

Why is it not in syndication heaven? It’s a little racy for ION, but Bravo should be re-airing it in perpetuity.

Yeah. My Geek was spectacularly unenthused for most of the hour (we came home late and started watching about 18 minutes into the ep). So, I had to ask, “How much of it is because it’s Seth MacFarlane?” “Oh, this much,” was his reply, with his hands at least 2 1/2 feet apart.

No clue. Nothing really excites me this fall. I may watch Orville just for the shock and awe - and I like the supporting cast.

I totally thought The Grapefruit Technique was a thing made up for the Girl Trip movie - a 21st century “Venus Butterfly” (you look it up). I’m intrigued and slightly distraught that it’s real. Acidic fruit juice just seems like something that should be near sensitive skin OR an orifice other than the mouth.

Oh, yay. Given that there was a local ball game that disappeared this ep in my area, it’s good to know that I haven’t truly missed anything.
