Fair enough. My point is/was that when there are millions, if not billions, of dollars at stake morality truly becomes greyed out. Is this site a moral compass in that regard? Because that’s how the article reads.

These are as substantive responses as I would expect defending such ‘moral’ outrage. This is how we delude ourselves to the daily machinations that provide the foundation for any industry to generate billions of dollars annually, sans any real consequences.
Obviously I like this site well enough to frequent it and comment on the stories, but the level of naviety in editorial tone is often staggering. You question why a billion dollar industry relied on the medical findings of a quack to support the product of their billion dollar industry?
Bikes are for kids.
“It’s the soundtrack to a trip to Spencer Gifts.”
Comment of the century so far, and if you don’t get it, now you know why you don’t understand the draw that Trump has in certain parts of this country.
Not a partisan, but SEC teams routinely play top tier non-conference opponents at the start of each season. Exposure and recruitment tool. Same logic in why many top tier teams play other top tier teams, often at neutral venues, at the start of a new season.Money doesn’t hurt either.
The code of conduct bar is low for the NCAA and the school in the new millennium. How low? Ask yourself: how many children were molested as a result of “X’s” conduct? Zero?
“It is unclear how precisely the insurance company appraised the suffering of each victim so that these dollar amounts could be assigned.”
This comment made me laugh out loud, both because it is factually correct, and hilarious. Thank you good sir.
You are an apologist that is not fully reading the information for what it is. You admit Paterno is a God in that state, and built that utopia, because you lived it. So where else would a 10-12 year old child go when “the Coach’s assistant” stuck his finger up their butt in the shower?
Okay, in comparison to Harvey, is there not a correlation? Did the Mets screw over Reyes, and did he handle it poorly? Did the Mets screw over Harvey, and did he handle it poorly? In the time of the hot taek, I think that Reyes gets a pass that Harvey doesn’t. Perhaps the passage of time has allowed for all the…
This is all valid, and well written. How dare you post on Gawker.
I’m in this camp as well. I think some of the vitriol is over the fact he can be aloof and appear to self-centered...to not ‘care’ the way a loyal fan believes he should. Maybe there is some truth in that.
Short answer: Yes
Meh. Eight plaintiffs, and the settlement covers attorney fees. Do the math, it is likely less than a couple hundred grand per Plaintiff. Schools settle these suits so that key employees never have to sit through a deposition and testify.
“it was jarring to see Irving playing his guts out while Curry looked like he was auditioning to star in a Justin Bieber Vine.”
I won’t go so far as to say he was an asshole, but a story that never gets any attention is how close he and Frazier were when Ali was sanctioned and had his belts taken away for his position on Vietnam. Frazier supported Ali financially when Ali most needed that type of support. later on, when it was to his financial…
There is nothing more emasculating in the 21st Century than NFL coverage, particularly the broadcast of the games. I think any reasonable man would feel more empowered after an episode of ‘The View.’
If I am reading this correctly, you impute a lot of ‘blame’ on Helwani for what is a violation of some journalistic ethic in covering the UFC (in covering a sport). Perhaps I have a twisted view of the so called profession, but there is no such thing as journalism in the 21st century in covering sports. It’s…
