I don’t agree with letting victims decide when someone has been punished enough. That’s why we have a justice system that in theory is supposed to be objective and is supposed to remove the personal from the situation so that decisions can be made with society’s best interests at heart (not the victims’, society’s). I have kids and wouldn’t trade them for anything, but I also get the choice not to have kids, and don’t think less of anyone for not having them, or feel the urge to ask people in their late 30's “why no kids???”. They’re a ton of work and stress, and I didn’t even deliver mine.
