C grade once again given to show for handling a topical issue “wrong”. Keep the hands wringing.

That’s not what he was saying. Also, this “conversation shut down” argument needs to go. It’s usually aimed at someone trying to make a polite, legitimate comment, and apparently, it wasn’t even a straight white male who said it, but hey! It’s the internet. Where assumptions and easy slams rule.
They get so defensive around here (I’m talking most of the staff for this site) when someone suggests that their agendas are making the reviews irrelevant. I don’t trust a good/bad review on here because they give bad grades to movies/TV/music if the “message” doesn’t fit their angle.
This is one of those situations where I find myself strangely at odds with the consensus. To me, this was a filler episode (and someone aggressively took me to task on Twitter for it - employing the old chestnut “You’re not paying close enough attention”). I have a problem with shows that do “Follow a Side Character”…
I know! I was like, “Am I missing something?” People on Facebook were gleefully posting about it like it was hilarious and I felt like a contrarian. I began to doubt myself.
A lot of people love Bee for this, mostly because people got to trot out the C word without repercussions for a little while. Look around, they’re overusing the shit out of it.
Trump has sort of owned the whole “covfefe” thing. Plus, it wasn’t all that funny to begin with. Even John Oliver is over it.
Yeah, I mean Brown, Foster, Day (who I love but I don’t think is exactly a very versatile actor - Pacific Rim?) are all enough to get me to watch it, just not for another year when it hits HBO.
Oh good, another “Chekov’s [whatever]” reference. I get the feeling when someone submits an article here it doesn’t get checked for spelling or grammar, but if the word’s “Chekov” or “Trump” aren’t in there somewhere, the writer gets a Mailer Daemon error and the article gets spit back to them.
I didn’t want to go there, but yeah. I remember reading Entertainment Weekly as a kid and loving it. NOW, it’s just preening and posturing just like AVC. There’s a reason AVC always refers to EW reviews and articles, they’re both FOPAs now (Friends of Progressive Art). That’s not a real thing, I made it up.
Exactly. Not sure if you’re an NBA fan or not, but it’s the “Good Job! Good Effort!” grade.
I like the second one only because it is so crazy and I’ve always found stuff like that fascinating. As a kid, things that were hard to understand always interested me more than something where the characters were constantly reminding the audience what was going on. It was probably a gateway drug to David Lynch. Ever…
Most of the reviewers here are clearly angling for jobs on more high profile, agenda driven sites. Just look where all the reviewers that leave here end up. They do their shtick here and then move on to the “Big Leagues”. They’re basically playing the game, it’s smart when you think about it from their own personal…
Wow. A “C” grade here means “This movie is very bad, but we don’t want to knock it TOO much” because it means well.
Gary Ghostman.
Yeah, from a storytelling point of view, it doesn’t seem like that’s the natural end to this story. GOB’s arc would just sort of end. Misdirection!
When LeBron was rubbing his scalp from stress and frustration, it became clear to me how his hair loss exacerbated.
I think it was an illusion. Tony was way too casual about his trap door not working. Plus, it’s a weird way to end his character.
Angela Sarafyan is my choice, but I am a huge Shannon Woodward fan.
God these reviews are awful. Zack spends week after week, seemingly every show he reviews circling the same issues. Saying the same things. Not to mention, has the show had a cold open before? Seriously? Very very recently.
