Why must all Zack reviews sputter around for 6 or 7 paragraphs about one picayune thing before he starts actually talking about the actual episode? These reviews barely scratch the surface of what actually is happening in the episodes. He’d rather go on about how he can’t do his job because it’s hard not knowing

Are they trying to invalidate a woman, or is he simply saying that he asked someone who was literally THERE what they thought?

I saw Sarah Silverman on The Norm Macdonald podcast a few months ago and she was acting like her older mock-racism jokes recently just dawned on her as being terrible, but also that they weren’t mock-racist, just straight up racist.

I thought he was asking someone who was there what they thought. I didn’t see any invalidation or sexism. He said he believed what she said, he was just puzzled she never addressed it to him, and mentioned it out of the blue years later. Plus, when he tried to apologize and contact her, which he did, she leaves that

All a site like this has to do is keep saying the same thing over and over, and you know the comment section will just pile on, whether they’ve seen the actual show or not.

I feel like AVC, and Entertainment Weekly have evolved from places where I’d get entertainment news (and a laugh) to a place where everything is a steady stream of tired adjectives to describe the President (AVC) or a magazine where GLOW was the best show of 2018, Jessica Jones is the superhero for the MeToo era, and

There’s a shockingly low level of politics, and there are characters that clearly challenge Roseanne (Darlene!), and they aren’t made out to be strawman buffoons.

I’m guessing the show would’ve lost you at some point then, if “faberge” was a bridge too far.

No. You would think the show is Last Man Standing, which I’ve never seen, but I’ve been lead to believe is ALSO some crazy right wing show. I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually wasn’t either, and just didn’t fall back on Trump jokes like everyone else on the planet.

She’s being shoved out the door? I love online speculation. Everyone always assumes things with 1000% certainty.

I agree with so much of this. It’s like a child plugging their ears and yelling, “Lalalalalalalala!” when something isn’t catering to their view perfectly.

Alex just said a lot things I’ve been saying ever since Danette started reviewing this show with an open mind, which is laughable. Her expectations that a 22 minute sitcom should somehow be able to feature the large cast evenly over 10 episodes is crazy. With just 10, they had to hone in on 10 stories they could tell

He might do a series of 142 masterful Tweets about it.

AVC loves Patton! Even when he stands there in a scene doing nothing, it’s EVERYTHING.

I feel like this place has a lot more malevolent, angry, garbage people than it used it. I mean we had traces of those qualities, but you know, we weren’t kick-a-puppy assholes.

Great article. I don’t even know any of the people it’s about, but I found your pursuit pretty noble.

If the reviews were about the show, and not trying to come up with examples of what a 22min sitcom ISN’T doing

As a Patriots fan, I can confirm that you can’t go near Tom Brady without multiple flags being thrown. Save the Quarterback, Save the League.

Well, on the good news front, you haven’t been spoiled.
