The gap between the best D3 teams and the worst D1 teams is huge. I went to a top 25 D3 school and we managed to find a 6'10" guy who had never played in his life and couldn’t jump. He was conference player of the year. D3 is played completely beneath the rim.

I honestly think he should stopping shooting for 6 months and then hope that his old muscle memory is there when he comes back. Spending all day thinking about your shooting motion just does not seem productive. It has to be natural.
