I’d never step foot in a quicky-lube-place, but with our tilting garage (it’s a rental), we’re not doing oil ourselves… we’d have to buy too much and clean up way too much. I saw how fast and furious the oil gushes out of mine when I did it at a friend’s shop while changing the VTECH solenoid filter… that would have

I’m laughing a bit too much at that…

Some of the dealers also police their own communities. Take our example when we bought our Series.blue (BRZ). We had been looking for a BRZ for about a year, and our local sales guy was *awesome* and answered any questions and maintained just enough presence that he still existed (I’m the type that if you try and

Your dealer sounds like utter asses. It took us about a year before we formally decided on our BRZ, and that included about 3 test drives during that time. With both of us testing it, our sales guy just handed over the keys no problem (he’s also a tall guy, I don’t think he wanted to try and get back there :P ). All

That was why we got our .blue— the wheel upgrade alone was almost covered in the extra cost. Toss in the blue trimmed interior (not a big red fan, though jealous of the all black in the tS!), the aero kit, the different pattern to the dash… All we’ve done in 3 years is the strut tower brace (easiest install *ever*)

They tried them around here too. Most are already pulled, and Iowa might even ban them officially. Supposedly they were the only thing to keep people from dying, but gee, since they were shut off over a year ago, the death or accident rate in the particular “death zones” hasn’t increased at all…

I personally hate cats on hoods (one or more “free range” cats in the neighborhood are responsible for a some fine, deep scratches on my hood… one you can tell are 3 claws likely made as they tried to not slide off…). But the dude loves his cats, and his cats love his hoods, and he’s fine with it and he’s beyond safe

*and* trespassing… The one lady mentioned that driving around the gates are pretty common to see too. There’s only so much the railroad can do to try and stop these idiots from killing themselves…

My dad had numerous pairs of coveralls. He was pretty much constantly working on something in the garage—whether it be one of our 5 cars, or doing side work for other folks. Otherwise, he would have needed a additional wardrobe of work clothes, which would be even more trouble. Of course, being a guy, he’d also work

The HOA would then likely fine you for “having too old of a vehicle visible from the street”… (thankfully we’ve personally avoided HOAs so far, but one contract I read forbid any car more than 8 years old from being parked in the driveway… they didn’t discuss condition, purely just that age…)

Midwest. We don’t get tons where we are (I think around 10" is the most we’ve had at one time since we’ve lived here, usually just 3–4" at a time or less) but between the random snow and the below-freezing-for-most-of-the-winter, we definitely needed winters for the BRZ since it comes on summers. Those things start

Ouch… A very tall maple tried to take out our WRX during an ice storm… Thankfully we won (zero frame damage, though all but, like, 3 body panels replaced—gotta love Subaru engineering considering what sized limbs it broke) and the tree very much lost and is long gone. Husband is still very traumatized as it is his

Subie thread! :)

Our ‘15 BRZ, so far, is apparently shrapnel free. Still awaiting word my ‘07 TSX might be trying to kill me, as every other Honda seems to have been hit (maybe my area of the Japanese plant had the good airbags??) Our ‘05 WRX hopefully remains shrapnel free at the wheel as only it’s passenger got recalled.

Yeah, when my car’s screaming at me about trying to go somewhere when it’s like 1° out, that doesn’t exactly make it sound like it should be made to move yet… It needs a minute to settle back down…

I really don’t get it— unless those who are so against it don’t actually live in horrid climates. Heck, it can easily take a minute or two for my defrosters to balance out the interior of the car so I can see out the fogged up windows after I get in… And I don’t care how gently I drive it, if I can’t see anything out

OMG… that was hilarious… I give him this though, he didn’t hit the cars… (which is impressive as some were just lumps of snow)

Thankfully any of our breaks have been fixable with zip ties— at one event, actually, our always on hand supply fixed 4 cars. :P (we have some rather brutal locations sometimes…)

:P He’s always been kinda weird about things, so I wanted to make sure he was totally unrecognizable… :D

Now playing

This guy explains car stuff really well. Main difference is what temperature the rubber can handle (the general being that summers are crap under about 40°, and winters fall apart more easily above about 40°). All seasons being the “in between” that handles the high temps and low temps, just not as well as the
