My written test was a matter of minutes (I think I missed just the 1, which if could remember it, I’d still argue that I was right). Driving test was a joke— for my “parking” at the end? I turned in to the huge lot and they pointed way ahead to a space that I had like 300 feet to line up with…

That, and what metric are they using? KBB on my 14 year old TSX has it just under $7k for trade, but over $7k for private sale… I adore my car, but Ohio has to be high to be suggesting that owning a 14 year old car is too extravagant…
(there’s a reason my husband says he “escaped” Ohio twice… I managed to escape once—

My 1G TSX wipers are designed to just have the rubber parts replaced. Speaking of, I need to head to Honda and get a couple more…

I’ve got one of those! Mine goes back 12 yrs though… (pretty sure I got rid of earlier actual receipts though, especially as they fade away after a few years…). Habit I picked up from my dad, who worked on cars. I’ve got all the fill up details/mpg and any kind of repair/service in there. Well, except for a couple

That’s the type of comments I start making when we see those horrifically tacky “chocolate diamond” ads on TV— “You know what car mods we could get for that instead?? Or even used cars???” Heck, my husband just bought me some gorgeous slotted rotors/upgraded brakes for anniversary/xmas as my brakes are shot, and I’m

My now-husband got a 1996 SL2 right after college. I was pretty interested when, during the initial test drive, our sales guy said, “Hang on a sec,” and proceeded to beat the crap out of the door with his fist. It was also my husband’s first manual— which I drove before him as he didn’t know how to yet! (I taught

Totally this! There’s a lot of competition out there. That great deal she had? She could have walked into a different dealership (or even called possibly) and said “here’s what X offered me” and she probably could have gotten it or better. Why would you reward that kind of crappy behavior with your money?? I seem to

I have a feeling it was mostly good fortune, followed by the level of dealership and their hiring practices. I wasn’t exactly timid or remotely a push-over (heck, one of my first questions, since I had already narrowed down my search on paper with performance/safety/mileage/etc. was whether or not I could actually fit

I’ve blacklisted an entire dealership because of this. I had been researching for a while already (we’re “those” people…) and had it narrowed down, on paper, to 3 or 4 cars, and needed the actual test drives. However, regardless of the fact that *I* (a female) was doing the talking when we walked in, that *I* asked

What, just because you could carry a Met in the trunk of a LeSabre? :P

Totally this. Start saving before you actually start deciding (and if anybody suggests they don’t have any extra money to put aside, then they shouldn’t be getting a car loan…). Sure, we’re “those people” who put a LOT of thought into what car we buy (almost a year on two of them… but it’s a big purchase, it deserves

My husband gets profiled in his WRX, basically DWH (driving with hoodscoop). Last time he got pulled over leaving an event he was working near a high school, the cop threw his license back at him, muttered some nonsense, and took off after some kids in their modded Civic that had just raced by…

Every time I think of you I’m marveled— we usually take the TSX to Chicago as we’ve gone over potholes that, as you describe, would have swallowed our BRZ (not lowered, but the .blue, with that lip…). Of course, the other issue is that we inevitably end up in a parking situation where the BRZ wouldn’t have made it in…

And that has cemented the fact that we’ll always put the wheels under the car when it’s jacked up as it at least won’t crush us if it lands at wheel height, it’ll just possibly hurt… (if the wheels stay on, it’s on ramps with chocks). Man… I thought I was paranoid enough but hadn’t even thought about that when I lived

Kind of interestingly, GPS directions to one of our SCCA RallyX locations directs you down a “B road”… Though we knew ahead of time that you *should* take the next road instead (our organizer has to make it really clear), 4 of us ended up going for it on the way there once. And we all made it, even though there’s a

A bicycle slammed into the back of our BRZ, and just to repaint the rear quarter panel and replace the scratched side skirt was over $2k as the paint is apparently more than 1 coat blended. (I got lucky in that it was a group and they didn’t ride off and were still there when the cop I called showed up and our

On the hopes of renewal, maybe have your Director friend say he just HAS to shoot whatever scene in Lucifer’s garage! I wanna see the collection…

When he made that suggestion of his vehicle collection I SOOOO wanted to see it! That DB4 was gorgeous… That he referred to the C1 as such an “eh” car, I can only hope they get renewed and they have at least a brief scene in his garage.

I have family next to Gary… I drove up once to stay with my aunt and, I forget which main highway it was by there, but I was doing 10 over *in the slow lane* to try and not get run over, while driving on what appeared to be a freshly bombed road… I’m still impressed that car held itself together…

We get 32–34mpg easy in our manual on the highway and often in mixed, even with me driving (i.e. legal enough and not remotely hypermilling). 20s during winter, but that’s also on snow tires and below freezing and more in town/mixed.
