I think there have been several polls that have showed that Biden cleans up among less engaged (and therefore less likely to be watching the debates) voters, so I don’t think it’s surprising that his standing hasn’t been that shaken by his debate performances.

Oh, and miss me with all of the Biden apologism from your commenters. Bullshit, all it. The dude was literally uttering bullshit about “punching out” domestic violence. Stop defending this bullshit from this bullshit candidate.

The first batch of comments left on her last tweet from the other night were absolutel depressing.

I honestly don’t get how 5 debates in of these kind of performances, and a plurality of Dem voters (nationally) still think he’d be the strongest candidate to run against Trump. Trump would tear his ass apart if these debates have shown nothing else. The narrative is how “mean” the other candidates have been to him,

Absolutely. I wouldn’t want Kojima to be anything other than Kojima, purple prose choked bullshit and all.

I guess what I was getting at is that I don’t hate The War Veteran for his motivations. I hate him for his affectations.

I have a ridiculous hatred for performative puffery in all walks of life; folks who affect

This is a really good point. When I was younger, you’d call or visit your friends. It created a natural work-life balance because you’d know not to call or visit during dinner or work hours (because they’d be busy, not home etc.) Now we have a constant stream of messages across different platforms to keep up with all

The first Deadspin-level comment on this article. RIP.

That’s Kojima though, he’s 100% into cliches and tropes, and the reason I think it works (especially in DS, even more than in MGS) is that it’s so damn over-the-top in how seriously it takes itself that it actually becomes endearing. I don’t want to play a Kojima game that isn’t obtuse and overloaded with meaningless

Honestly, I think the only thing that makes me hate The Combat Veteran is the stupid affectations all Kojima villains end up pulling: the long, slow drag on the cigarette, the eyelids fluttering shut as he turns his face toward the sky—it’s all just so hilariously over-dramatic that I want to shake the guy.

It’s like,

I like how sympathetic villains can be in Kojima games. The Combat Veteran (Mads’s character) is a conflicted former U.S. Army soldier, who has suffered a lot. He’s also a fucking prick, but he knows it and views his actions as a necessary evil. It’s not exactly unfamiliar territory, but it’s fun to see in video

“ In the past few years, the concept of emotional labor has gone mainstream on social media and in articles that revive and expand the idea, with the term moving out of the workplace and insidiously into our homes.”

Yes, that sometimes happens with words in a language. A word that started with a particular definition

Ah yes, a “joke.” If you don’t hit women, how about you never mention anything about hitting women.

Barkley is just bitter because most women have rings, and he doesn’t.

Good reporting.

At least give us the town name. I am begging you on bended knee, and so is he:

So Andrew needs to be reminded to that he must express remorse for the victims?

Did that little girl grow up to be Scarlett Johansson?

What does it rhyme with?? Dying to know now! Spill that tea Julia!

Allow me to join the chorus of those cocking an eye at this story in doubt. I’m wary of anything that so neatly stokes public outrage.

a studio executive once suggested Julia Roberts (THE Julia Roberts) could play Harriet Tubman (THE Harriet Tubman)...
