Lol Flash Forward. ITS BECAUSE I WAS LOADED

Try 4 years man

I guess not

…I’ve always been intrigued by women named BJ.”

“Don’t you want to live forever?”

I don’t think Tropic Thunder had been released when this review was written, but man my kid and I were cracking up over Ivanek’s “Simple Jack” routine. Želiko, you never go full r———.

Nice call

Just watching this show for the first time, and I am SHOCKED that I had to scroll this far before someone commented on it. I’d noticed it in previous episodes, and then in this one he said something was “inevitable.” And THEN he practically paraphrased Smith’s “I hate this place” monologue. Couldn’t possibly have been

As a non-book reader I’ve been avoiding these comments so apologies if this has been discussed already. This is clearly set in our future; is that going to be relevant at all to the story going forward? Not looking for spoilers, but it seems like it could be an interesting angle so I’m just curious.

That “busting through the plasma barrier” visual was SWEET. Bridge bursting into flames was a bit silly though. Sometimes this show reminds me of Doctor Who.

I don’t have a problem with all the emotional stuff that goes on in the show, but its placement is grating to me. In all the other Trek shows, when you’re on the bridge – when you’re on duty – you are a professional member of a military organization. You don’t swear, you don’t have your bf hanging out on the bridge, yo

But they also CLEARLY show the events from the largely forgotten Hulk movie in the closing scene of the least favourite Iron Man movie. Worst. Review. Ever.

Every week I learn something new and infuriating about the USA. Taxing game show winnings? And Google tells me you tax lottery and casino wins too? Crazy.

If you’re talking about the characters of Stu and Frannie (why didn’t they change the names for this series???) that age difference was in the original text.

You’re calling Colm Meaney a fucking Brit? It may have taken almost 7 years, but an Irishman is here to say NO HE IS NOT.

The article doesn’t actually tell you what he said. There’s an embedded tweet that I’m not seeing, which I assume is what this is about.

I thought from the first blackout after she left debriefing that she had been replaced with some kind of synthetic life form, and they pretty much confirmed that this week, with her glitching out the way she did. Looked like programmable matter to me. Cronenberg clearly didn’t like her, and I expect the real Georgiou

And, in addition to Snow Crash is Stephenson’s later Reamde, about the development of a MMORPG and the real-life hijinks that ensue. IIRC there are Russian mobsters, right-wing terrorists, and Chinese security forces to deal with. I didn’t enjoy the sequel as much though.

It’s been a few years but I enjoyed You by Austin Grossman. It’s a lot about the development of a computer RPG in the 80s(?) but I seem to recall the narrative moves between the development team and their in-game characters pretty fluidly.
