That answers a question that came up in my head the other day: the Flashlight app IS called Torch in the UK. Awesome. :-)

Usually it’s a Windows box, so the very first thing that always gets installed is Chocolatey. Then I use Chocolatey to install 7-zip, Inkscape, Notepad++, Git, et cetera.

Had to go to teh Google(tm) to find out what crop-dusting meant. That is awesome.

You’re splitting hairs. You’re also going off of an “obviously implication [sic]” that everyone is going to want to live and work in the city, and that absolutely nobody will want to work in the suburbs. That’s an assumption. Sure as hell wasn’t obvious to me.

Not everybody who moves to a city wants to work in the city. I like driving into Austin on occasion, but don’t want to work downtown. Does that disqualify me from saying I moved to Austin? No.

The article is titled “The best city for you to start your career and live your life.” It doesn’t say, “but living and/or

Meh. Tried In N Out once. Wasn’t impressed.

15 minutes. Of course, I also work in the suburbs, but working downtown wasn’t a requirement for this post.

A classic combo is single malt and a nice shortbread. Crumbly, buttery, gives you something for the malt to wash down. Very nice.

I guess it depends on what drew you here in the first place. Austin natives have been complaining about the whole “you’re ruining the weird” influx of people for decades. Cities evolve. If people get fed up, they will leave. Whatevs. No big loss.

At least it’s not College Station...

Yeah, being a blueberry in a bowl of tomato soup can only get you so far. We’ve often wondered what the hell we’re (as very leftist liberals) are doing here in Texas. But a coworker reminded me: “you’re not in Texas, you’re in Austin.”

My Black, Asian and Indian co-workers all disagree with you.

We bought a 1700 square foot house in Pflugerville back in 2013 for 180k. People need to stop looking solely at a city without considering its suburbs.

I can assure you, the people of Austin (and its suburbs) did NOT vote for that ass-clown.

Yep. Which is why I live and work in the suburbs. Much nicer roads, much more room, et cetera.

Yes. I whole-heartedly agree. And with all the road construction (MoPac is FINALLY finishing up after 5 years), it can be crazy. I do tend to stay out of downtown whenever possible.

I can’t speak for the Bay area, not having ever been there. There is a lot of tech work in Austin right now, and the pressure depends on the position, I suppose. I’ve had 2 jobs over the course of 4 years. The first job was very high pressure and paid (comparitively) poorly. I left after 9 months. Been in the other

Well, the past two weekends were ACL. That is probably the worst time to visit Austin. Well, unless you are actually ATTENDING ACL, in which case may God have mercy on your soul.

I happen to love breakfast tacos. Get over it.

Wow, fuck heads like me sure have you butthurt, don’t we? Go fuck yourself.
