Every manufacturer has come out with a new gen of multi use tailgate. The all have new box/cargo management systems. They have more storage options, bins and secured boxes than ever before. They all now have tow back up systems and integration with trailer TPMS and cameras.

What is the point of a larger opening? What, exactly is the use case for that other than “neat”?

Pretty sure lightbars are illegal to use on road in pretty much every jurisdiction....not saying it doesn’t happen but complaining about it is like complaining about any other traffic violation that happens constantly (speeding, passing on the right, tailgating, etc.). Truck innovation has stagnated? The amount of tech and safety integration in to trucks has been huge in the las 5 years. New plugin powertrains are coming on line and there has been significant weight reductions even though overall size is increasing.
