How many people do you think have a similar use case? You are an extreme outlier.

No one is positioning EVs as tow vehicles yet. You’re setting expectations that no one realistically has today.

I see the tipping point as 300 miles of recharge in 30 mins or less. 300 miles is typically 5hrs on the road at which point 30 mins is a reasonable rest time. Yes, some will demand more but those that will actually need that are quite rare and will almost exclusively be commercial buyers who probably aren’t going EV

And how many of you have full size trucks?

I dont think a lot of apartment dwellers are buying large trucks. Without a market survey to back me up I would guess >90% of full size truck owners live in single family homes.

I’m okay with <30 mins to charge 300 miles.

The “in the wild” testing has shown the Taycan range is in the 250-270 range.

That was a non-standard test where they used drag strip timing equipment that allows 1' roll out. That 1' took .26 seconds. The actual time from 0-60 was 2.6 seconds.

And protip: don't borrow a car from someone wanted by the police.

Yep, I got it. You’re worried about people wanted by police being pulled over.

You are incorrect.

No, there are privacy laws in place at the state and federal level that dictate what can and cant be done with data gathered during law enforcement operations. A municipality cannot simply “make an agreement” that contravenes those laws.

You made the claim this would give cops more probable cause to pull people over. I asked how. The onus is on you to back up your statement, not for me to try and research and prove you right.

Your refusal to backup your claim suggests you were instead just making stuff up. But again, please prove me wrong here.

You know there are laws about “scraping date” and that while they certainly would have the technical ability, doing so would be highly illegal right?

Please, in detail, explain how these plate readers will give cops probable cause to pull you over?

There is no indication where the image processing is done so you’re making assumptions here.

Please, in detail, explain how these plate readers will give cops probably cause to pull you over?

It doesn’t do anything a cop calling in your plate over the radio would do. It just does it without distracting the officer.

I think Ford will set the table for EV pricing when the electric F150 drops. The volume they already have will give them a lot of influence to establish standards including price

There isn’t enough market demand to necessitate a slew of dedicated EV platforms, especially for a smaller auto maker like Volvo. Larger car makers like Ford and VW can afford to do it but until EV sales breach the ~25% or so barrier of car sales there will likely be a lot of these flexible architecture platforms.

I agree, it will likely land in court. That said, the ADA is not the constitution and does not necessarily overrule this new law.
