The F-450 and Ram 3500 High Output are equivalent pickup trucks, regardless of name. Both have identical 14,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight ratings.

That's a Ford F-Series truck sold an average of one every 42.5 seconds in 2014.

I know NOTHING! I see NOTHING!

Good feedback. EcoBoost costs less than a diesel, produces the same torque (420 lbs.-ft.) as the competitive diesel engine in the segment, can tow 2,000+ lbs. more and uses fuel that's less expensive.

There are some changes to the overall powertrain (including intake routing and a longer exhaust system) that impact the horsepower, but most of the difference is attributable to SAE's different horsepower and torque rating methods for vehicles that exceed 8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating.

That might be the case where you live but not nationwide. Check AAA Fuel Gauge Report for latest averages.

EcoBoost is a better value for F-150 customers than diesels. EcoBoost doesn't carry the large price premium of a diesel engine and regular unleaded gasoline costs about $.25 per gallon less than diesel fuel. Light-duty trucks also tend to run unloaded/empty compared to a commercial van duty cycle.

Some of our suppliers and upfitter partners, like Knapheide that makes racks and bins, operate out of SubTropolis near the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant. It's an 1,100 acre underground industrial park with a constant year-round temperature of about 65 F to 70 F.

We are giving Transit buyers the choice of a diesel because most are commercial customers, and many of their vehicles are high-mileage with longer in-service periods. For these customers, a diesel engine represents a better value due to its superior fuel economy and lower long-term operating cost per mile driven.

All credit goes to our terrific Product Development and Truck Marketing teams, and many other Ford team members. The F-Series Engineers are geniuses! Crazy smart! :-)

Well, the Star Hotel steak dinner was delicious. :-)

Couple of reasons:
- EcoBoost is a better value for many light-duty truck customers, with lower up front cost
- Diesel fuel carries about a $.30 premium over regular unleaded
- EcoBoost produces diesel-like torque at the low-end and across much of the power band

Not the desert floor, like Vegas. Barrick's Cortez Hills Mine sits at about 5,000 feet elevation. They had snow just last week. It's about 60 miles from Elko.

Barrick surveyors absolutely noticed a lack of surface rust but they didn't know if it was aluminum, carbon fiber or another new material. And we didn't tell them. :-)

Others are spot on. The 2015 F-150 has an all-new frame with increased use of high-strength steel, from 22% to 77%. It's virtually all steel except that one of the eight cross members is high-strength aluminum alloy cross member.

The tailgates on both trucks were replaced in the past few weeks. In short: Observe, learn, improve, repeat.

Here's a shot of the second prototype at Barrick.

Just the cargo boxes.

It has hauled a lot more than stakes, but with the cargo removed you can see the wear and tear easily, and no rust!
