With the way Japanese cars of this era are booming in value, you could probably sell this car for the price you paid for it 5 years from now. It’s a quirky little conversation starter that won’t cost much to maintain. If the driver’s seat bolster is the worst problem it has, then I think the price is reasonable.

Definitely not the fastest or sleekest way to win at Radwood but it’d be difficult to turn as many heads as this for under $5k

Way too many flips going on too. Super low mileage car with big list of recent work done, note that “Seller acquired the three months ago and has added 42 miles since” and then answering questions in the comments like they are some sort of expert on the car’s history and didn’t just buy it from some poor widow to

Why mess with success? It’s a comfortable car that can be had with a variety of HP flavors. It doesn’t always have to be about “riding on rails” handling. We’re undoubtedly heading towards an electric self driving future, so enjoy these types of cars while you can.

Apparently you are not from the US.. because that logic doesn’t work there.

The only cities that have (even somewhat) moved away (or avoided) private vehicle commuting are those with extensive rapid transit solutions. Cities like NY, Chicago, Atlanta, London, etc.

I’m always amazed by the binary thought process that seems prevalent today - If you’re “this”, you cannot be “that”.

They don’t sound horrible. It’s when people start putting aftermarket exhausts on them that they start sounding like ass.

Most states have a “Steer it/clear it” law which means unless the vehicle can’t move at all, you are required to get off the road.

I still love the idea of the crz but it’s just bad at everything. The mpg or power doesn’t justify the hybrid (which in itself is an impressive amount of underperformance), and it was a two seater (in this country).

Isn’t this the sort of thing car enthusiasts have been wanting for decades? A stripped down car that offers only the essentials.

I’d take the Taurus over that shitty four cylinder Camry with missing hubcap, and I’d take ANY Taurus over a Cavalier.

“The seller is asking $6,900 for the car and in what’s perhaps not the most effective sales strategy claims that the price has been set, not by the calculated value of the car, but by the need to recoup the investment—paint, mechanicals, etc.—that have been put into it.”

A little surprised Tesla hasn’t rebranded it or spun it off and started selling licenses already.

Counter point:

I’ll be that guy... but keep it low key. It’s reading about cars like this that remind what a ridiculous bargain the C8 is going to be. Not saying the C8 is better and if I was given the choice I’d probably take the R8 (because of the v10 and also brand snobbery). But once the C8 zo6 is out in a couple years that

I think one of the problems with speed limits here in the United States at least is that the limits are designed for 50+ year old vehicles in a lot of places. I can understand the limit being 35 in more residential areas, as studies have shown that pedestrian deaths increase very quickly above 32-35 mph. However on

Jalopnik - the Subway in New York is dumb and bad!

I’ve owned 2 door variants of Jeeps and Trucks - never again. 4 doors are much more convenient and useful and I don’t even have kids. At least with Subaru, you captured the dog-loving outdoorsy people who also want performance with the hatchback. Sure, you can put your dog in the back seat but now you only have a 2

Great article Jason, at least what I could read of it
