That’s why my sister and brother in-law did. They were looking into a used one but just ended up going with a lesser spec’d new one at a very low interest rate.

One word: Liability 

While it doesn’t impact most of us, the amount of care BMW put into setting up the whole infrastructure to make the car is admirable to put it mildly. Compared to most large corporations that work as a meat grinder, they actually have a plan and path from early training all the way through.

Those are rear wheel drive platforms. The Explorer is laid out the same as a front wheel drive car. 

In 2019, I’m not sure how any commercial business, let alone one that keeps their inventory outside, can get insurance without cameras. 

On a car that old a broken speedo and odometer is probably just the speedo gear. Even if it isn’t, it is very unlikely it’s some crazy computer module that requires a ton of diag. You could probably play swaptronics  and still be way under $200 on the fix. 

And you get the bi-polar combination of a reliable Toyota engine with horrible English electronics.
