It may be worth noting, not that it really matters, that the one person who for some odd reason I gets paid to give car buying advice...owns a GTI. I’m also fairly certain I’m the only person currently employed here that has bought and still owns a brand new car. Again I don’t know why that matters, but I still

Oh it’s practical all right! I just picked up a used 2015 GTI w/ the performance package (and it’s a shame they don’t offer that anymore). I needed one with the DSG since the wife flat out refuses to drive a stick. Yeah, it’s fun to ‘row yer own’ and all, but it’s also real nice to not have to take your hands off the

Nobody asks me to help them move, because they know I will say no. That is what movers are for - large men who can lift heavy things.

Calling the DSG an “autotragic” is just stupid. It’s not the 4-speed slushbox out of an old Malibu, it’s one of the best transmissions available. I have a 2016 with the DSG (even though I generally prefer manuals) and it suits the car perfectly. Always picks the right gear and shifts are instantaneous.

I’m gonna have to go GTI on this. As much as I like the Miata(and I’ll probably get burned at the stake since this is Jalopnik), I’m more inclined towards having some practicality than I am a pure fun machine. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older or something. Oh well.

I’m not sure how to take this. “Proceeding with life” would mean that, to a rational employer/manager, taking action to ensure that this doesn’t happen under their watch again, whether that be with a current or future employee.

Example: I took my beater to a quick oil change joint down the street this summer

If you have young techs abusing the test drive, then you have a business culture that allows employees to do whatever they want as long as it’s not in front of the customer. If you run a tight ship and all the employees know what’s expected of them and that any serious infraction (like taking a customer’s car over 90

alarmingly, a lot of Glock ammunition, becomes engulfed in flames

Going a little fast there, buddy. Where’s the fire? *Points back at police officer’s car.

TIL: my Macan and the Dodge Charger are sports cars.

I’m a big fan of LastPass

There is so little cash in the world these days I wonder why crime like this still exists. I mean, if you rob me on the street you get about $40 cash and a year old cell phone that will be wiped of data as soon as I get home and can be used to track you if you turn it on. The risk is just not worth the reward. I know

I recommend that anyone using a password manager (well, first, I recommend everyone use a password manager) store this stuff in their password manager, and have 2-factor authentication for their password manager.

It stands for “Multi-Level Marketing,” aka one of those schemes where you theoretically make money by selling goods but actually make money by getting other people to sell goods and give you their money (which they actually earn by getting other people to sell goods and hand over their money, etc... and it’s turtles

Multi-Level Marketing... still frightening and gross.

The tighter you close your grasp, the more planets slip through your fingers, Vader.”

I agreed up until ‘flip it a couple more times’ - 1 flip Vasili, 1 flip only please.

And another thing, well done doesn’t have to mean dried out. If the cook/chef knows what he’s doing, it can come out juicy with no pink in the middle.

IMHO, well done is the way to go, beef has little taste until the medium well stage, at least to me, and rare is too soft and slimy. I’ve tried many times to eat a burger or steak with a pink center, and it’s just blah at best, it comes “alive” when the pink starts to fade away. Maybe because I don’t want a lot of

I’m constantly flabbergasted by all these “Does the staff not like me?” questions in this column.
