I’m guessing a lot of people ragging on dressage have never ridden a horse. It’s a lot more physical then one would expect, you don’t just sit on it and be taken for a ride.

I’d much rather watch esports tourneys than plenty of Olympic sports. I’m not placing a value on one or the other. I’m just drawing the distinction that, to me, is a clear divide between real sports and esports.

Every event you mentioned involves some sort of physical activity. That’s the “not at all arbitrary line”. If you are sitting on your ass pushing buttons you are not involved in a physical activity.

The X Games seem to to well even though some of their events are in the Olympics, video games should just do the same. Have one overarching tournament with various games. I don’t think that would happen because no one would want to give up an ounce of control to play nice and make it happen, but there is a way forward…

Agreed. This is ridiculous. Granted, I hate even the word “esports.” It’s LAN tournaments with better prizes.

Olympics and eSports don’t mix. Olympics is a celebration of human physical feats(mostly anyways). Naw keep eSports as a separate thing.

Just because the term esports has the word sport in it doesn’t mean it should ever be an Olympic sport. Maybe a new competition for mind “sports” like this should be created. Things like Chess and other non-athletic games could be in it. I am sure it would be fun to watch but it shouldn’t be an Olympic sport.
