My Hooptie Fleet is Boring

Not only do we produce a lot, we export a lot of domestic production and then import at a lower cost, for domestic use. California is the only state that produces for 100% domestic use, but they still have to import around 70% of their oil.

Interstate 5, between SoCal and the Bay.  I’ve been doing it my whole life and just tired of it.  I grew to hate it even more when I moved to the Central Valley. It is long and straight and people drive like asshats.

My wife has a ‘22 RAV4 Hybrid and drives like complete shit.  She has averaged a bit over 40mpg since we got it. It has been a great vehicle for her.

They should do it!

There’s also the question of whether to charge drivers of heavier vehicles more per mile than those driving lighter cars. After all, the heavier a vehicle is, the more damage it does to the roads. But just because it’s the correct thing to do from a financial perspective doesn’t mean it would be politically viable.”

Tacoma driver here. Every time I see a Jeep on a scenic trail, I’m super jealous of their view.

You forgot beer.  Who camps without beer?

I’ve never timed it, but my ‘22 Camry SE Hybrid gets along pretty good on the highway. It’s also only rated 44 city 47 hwy, and I’ve been averaging a hand calculated 52 MPG.

I think your conversion is off.  To go from UK MPG to US MPG, you have to divide by 1.2, not multiply.  Or I could just be on crack, wouldn’t be the first time.

I used to like those. I’m a big fan of funky looking cars. Bought one in early ‘21, before things really got crazy. It took corners fairly well, but everything else was just blah. It also had more rattles than my wife’s ‘08 Slorolla. It got to the point that the only thing I liked about it was looking at it. If it had

Exactly! Too much skinny pedal when you’re fully locked is a good way to find a weak spot.  My 4 banger Tacoma does just fine on the trails and rocks.  All I use that truck for is off road adventures.  Seeing a full size truck on a real trail is a rare sight.  Seeing them in my rearview mirror and riding my ass on the

If I was flying, Goose would still be alive

I just think you’re trying too hard to disagree and completely missing my point. It might also be because it’s hard to properly get across what you are truly meaning to say on the internet. My original response to the OP was meant to be as outrageous as how I viewed his comment. As a civilized society, we need rules,

There’s just times that constant speed cruise seems better. It’s also nice to be able to switch, because all it takes is some bug or dirt will mess with the sensor. If you’re in a car that can’t be switched between the two, you’re left without cruise control. Redundancy is a good thing when you love cruise control as

At least in a Toyota it’s easy to switch between cruise modes. I’ve in too many cars that you have to fiddle through a bunch of menus to switch it on and off. I don’t know if it works in the 3rd gen Tacoma, but in my 2nd gen, if I hold down the traction control button while stopped, it completely turns it off and it

That is a great feature! It also depends on the vehicle. Some manufactures do it better than others. It also needs to be easy to switch between RADAR cruise and constant speed cruise.  I’d be pissed if it wasn’t easy to flip back and forth between modes.

We have speed limits and Haz Waste procedures because people have proven that they can’t be relied upon to do the right thing without being told to. Just like in any dangerous industry, the safety rules aren’t pulled out of thin air. They’re written in blood. It’s all of our responsibility to follow the rules.  The

What a lame answer. Cars have the ready capacity to kill. Just like the kid in this story was irresponsible and killed himself and the passenger.  The car didn’t kill him, his actions killed him.

You can’t fix your sink with a car, or a beer. So, it seems to me that it’s just easier for you to tell me to fuck off and let logic escape you. Right on. That’s what freedom is all about.

As an avid RC Pilot and president of my local AMA field, I hear you. This is one of those things that only people involved in the hobby know about.
