I am personally still hoping against hopes that these cords are strictly for demo purposes and the real deal will have more length to them. Otherwise, expect an influx of cheap chinese extension cables to hit the market shortly. The lack of home button is a little annoying consider it’s not real hardware, but it’s not

I’ve sorta resigned myself to the fact that the JRPG elements in Paper Mario games are more or less dead, but I hope this is at least good for what it is. Sticker Star felt very hollow to me; after a couple of hours I’d lost all interest in the title. I hope they can change my opinion of their new direction in Color

I can’t agree with you more. Metroid 2 was my first Metroid, and I’ve always talked about how under appreciated it is and how important it is to the series. AM2R gave so much context to the locations and the world you explore; in nearly every new area, I’d immediately say “oh! is THIS what this place is?” The added

My only concern is that earlier this year SE was touting 100 hours of story content. Unless this game is just massive, if there’s actually 100 hours of gameplay that means there’ll probably be significant bloat.

I came think this would be something silly, but you're totally right. Demake the NFL song a bit and you'd have something that fit perfectly into Final Fantasy IV or Mystic Quest.

Personally, I’m more interested in the Pro’s fidelity/performance enhancements for 1080p than I am in its “4k” ability. Remember, on a 50" HDTV, you need to be sitting closer than 6.5 feet to even begin to perceive a difference between 1080p and 4k.

Yep, you can play both on Vita TV, but I would not recommend it. PSP games scale pretty badly to an HDTV. They also force a blur filter so you're left with something very fuzzy.

Play to the play.

The NES top loader dropped composite output. That alone makes it worse than the toaster.

Controversial(?) Opinion:

Because no one wants to admit Mystic Quest is actually pretty fun and has a great soundtrack:

I’d already been considering letting my sub lapse, but this feels like the final nail in the coffin for me. I don’t game online, and I haven’t been impressed with the Plus free game offerings for quite a while now. I’ll still consider if I can find it for $40, but at $60 I’ll pass.

Stephen, have you gotten a chance to play through the Metroid 2 remake? As a big Metroid 2 fan, I’m not sure even Nintendo could’ve done a better job. Highly recommended if you like what Nintendo did in Metroid: Zero Mission.

One day, PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility. One day...

Honestly, this is kinda great news for me. September is already jam-packed with games and I already have a backlog that makes me feel bad. Hopefully I’ll be able to knock out a few more titles and dive gracefully into FFXV right before Christmas.

Do you have a preferred owner? Or is that best not discussed in a public forum?

What year (say, in the past5?) has been the most fun/exciting for you to cover? Lots of awesome game news comes out every year, but what takes the cake?

Without having listened to the podcast yet, I think the PS3/360 got patches right, but our current gen is taking advantage of most household’s faster internet to release mostly incomplete physical games.

For example, with the PS3/360, if you got a patch it was typically a minor affair. Some bug fixes here, maybe a

Gawker Media is being sold off, but it (hopefully) shouldn't affect Kotaku much.

Thank you for this article. This “announcement” has been hitting my newsfeed all day. That thing is a piece of trash.
