What games would I love to see for the Wii U?
But that doesn't change the fact that they don't belong to the same sub group of animals. That's like saying birds and reptiles are in the same sub group because they both share common characteristics of dinosaurs.
Toads are amphibians... Turtles are reptiles...
Not sure where you got that from, but that is also just not true. Nintendo uses an in-house emulator that they customize for each Rom (speedhacks to achieve fullspeed, accuracy, etc). Within every .wad (the package the virtual console game comes in) there is a Rom with an emulation shell built around it. That's why…
Again, many of your assumptions are complete misconceptions. Lets tackle them one by one:
I'm sure plenty of people would be fine with this solution (I think myself included), but it's pretty clear that Nintendo is not. A 3DS GBA Virtual Console is just not going to happen unless Nintendo can miraculously overcome the technical hurdles of 3DS emulation.
I'm glad you mentioned this, as it's a major misconception. Yes, Nintendo did release the GBA Ambassador program. However, the games are not running under emulation. What the 3DS is actually doing is running in a virtual GBA mode. See, the 3DS supports DS games, and the DS has integrated GBA hardware. Thus, the 3DS…
You've touched on just about every lingering issue I have with the Wii U. Technical restraints aside (particularly doing GBA games on 3DS, it's just not gonna happen the way Nintendo wants it to because the 3DS isn't powerful enough to run actual emulation), I still have major issues with Nintendo's un-unified account…
Questionable plot devices and so so voice acting aside, Other M was a fine game. Team Ninja had little input with the plot, and NOA handled the english translation. Any misgivings you have with Other M should be directed at Nintendo, not Team Ninja.
Star Ocean 2? No. But for Lufia II and Lunar, while you can get away with not playing the priors, I think the games are much better when you do. You miss out on some subtext as well as the fun of visiting places you've already been.
If companies don't offer a reasonable digital alternative, I see no problem with using an emulator.
Like the 3ds and gba games, this is probably going to be problematic for the wii u because it probably can't emulate the games. It can run them in a virtual mode using compatibility shims, but the wii u probably doesn't have the power for the whole virtual console experience, and that seems to be a deal breaker for…
You're not! I'm not going to pretend it's my favorite game in the series, but - meh plot aside - it was a perfectly good game. Even great, sometimes.
It's been so long I honestly don't remember what the Carro is. The last time I played it was maybe a year or two after it came out.
Can I take a second and mention how weird it is to see people talk about Legend of Dragoon so tenderly? I remember it being somewhat of a mess, with a poor translation and typical Final Fantasy "me-too!" design. I won't say I didn't enjoy it, but I distinctly remember most people (myself included) being underwhelmed…
Not bad at all. It was punishing, but I enjoyed it, minus the fact that the whole VP/LP thing was implemented pretty poorly and Samson was largely dead weight for the first part of the game.
Well, you're mostly right. Technically, there is a US copy, but it's an unofficial, unlicensed reproduction cart. Timewalk games, now defunct, had it for sale.
SaGa 2 was a weird one. I mean, the whole SaGa series is a little offbeat, but SaGa 2 takes the cake. I loved the generational storyline, but the game was more than a little frustrating, and by the time I was at the end of the game, I was underpowered and ended up stuck.
Skip the trashy virtual console version. This is the BOF2 you seek:
I can dig it. I've been eyeing a replay of Thousand Arms for a year now. It's a surprisingly good game, and I really enjoyed the combat system. I'd love to see it get a release on PSN (not for me, but for all the other people to enjoy).
