It’s kind of hard when you don’t have the resources or connections at your fingertips.

You are not the only one, that’s for sure. If ever there was a summer where it would have been nice to have a pool.

Tangentially related to the MorganStanley piece, the small site I work(ed) at has a full time cleaner as part of our lease. Our office manager made sure that she continued to get paid throughout the shutdowns. As far as I know, the management company did not push back at all, paid her through many weeks of a

You overstated Amazon’s 2019 profit 10X. 3rd quarter net income was $6.3B, not $39B.  If I’m reading it right, Amazon Web Services generated more than half of the profit.

My insurance company only requires it bi-annually, but I get re-trained in Small Plane Landing Behind, Ahead, and On Top Of every year. They’re perishable skills.

Yeah, there are a lot of things to hit on a highway. He might have made a different choice in the daylight.

Yep. I was out on the MTB this morning with some buddies.

Can you actually turn the wheels all the way left/right? It looks like it has gigantic wheel spacers which would really alter the path of the wheel, and possibly impart some unpleasant forces into the wheel bearings.

Exactly right. I’ve only had one go right - swapping suspension on an Elise.

I gave up on mobile a long time ago for this site.

Agree. I have 16" alloys for my wife’s MINI.  Last year I found a dented rim when I swapped out the 17s.  I’m going to assume this will be a yearly ritual - swap them over, fix the dents at my leisure.

That’s a good point. I don’t think we were exposed to much “regular” food. I gained 5lbs in 5 days (the wedding was 4 days long, of course). My 11yo daughter claims she lost 5lbs because she would only eat bread. :). To her credit, she did try a bunch of dishes.

I wonder which (US or UK) is more authentic. I went to a wedding in India last December and the food was both awesome and no different - aside from more variety, I guess - than I’m used to at local NJ restaurants. Or at my wife’s friend’s house, for that matter.  She and her husband moved here in the mid-80s but

A year after they stopped the stickers, a friend of mine was denied entrance to a military base in VA because of his ‘expired registration’.  The current registration card wasn’t enough proof.

I know the feeling.  When people ask me how fast I’ve gone in my Factory Five Cobra my response is “how fast do I really want to go in something I put together in my garage?”

Wow, that reminds me of a close call I had years ago. I had my spec RX7 race car loaded on a trailer, behind a 3/4 GMC pickup, planning to head out to a race weekend after work. Just as I was about to pull into the lot, a ball joint broke, dumping the tire into the wheel well, and grinding me to a halt.

My buddy used to have a shitty class A ‘motorhome’. It was basically a box filled with broken RV equipment. It was a serious white-knuckler for me. The steering was awful, with lots of slack, and passing semis would cause all kinds of aerodynamic weirdness.

Area under the curve doesn’t change.

I still ride bikes with my friends.  Like a child.  :)

I thought I read when the awful 7-series came out, that the grill design was driven by Chinese tastes. I wonder what the reaction is on the Chinese equivalent of Jalopnik.
