A guy who worked for Ferragamo explained Italian fashion - at least among younger people - like this: they can’t afford cars to show off with, so they use clothing.

Those 296 numbers are on a prepped drag strip. It will be interesting to see if the ZR-1 goes faster there. I wonder how much the electric motor helps the Ferrari off the line.
The HP of an EV is more about the battery than the motors. At 500hp with a 102kwh, the Lyriq motors are working the battery about as hard as a 1000hp/205kwh Hummer. It’s unlikely GM - who have to warranty the thing - would choose to double the draw on their smaller battery.
I think it’s bigger than that though. I have friends in high end banking / law (I’m but a humble public servant) - and it’s not just a self perception thing for them.
That’s pretty awesome. Somewhere on the Tube of Yous, there’s a guy who changes clutches in driveways in the UK. Pretty amazing.
‘Good’ sales people lie effortlessly. My local Ducati dealer once told me that a certain bike was 6 months out and DUCATI required a $500 deposit. I knew the 2nd one was a lie but I was back 3 weeks later and there was a brand new Panigale V2 on the floor. He just hoped I would buy the used bike I was sitting on (‘the…
The fact that you even know what the ingredients ARE comes down to regulations. Food manufacturers don’t print that stuff out because they feel like it.
It won’t work for you but a guy comes to NJMP with a Rivian towing a brick of an enclosed trailer. 14 or 16', really tall. He has the (worse) all-terrain tires. His drive is 100 miles and he told me it takes 80%. They have RV hookups in the paddock so recharging is convenient.
A Slingshot owners’ group showed up at a local parade. It was certainly a cast of characters. Don’t forget the artwork! One guy had a picture of Zombie Michael Jackson with ‘Thriller’ airbrushed on the front.
There was a period in my mid-to-late 20s where my ‘win streak’ was THIRTEEN stops w/o a moving violation. It was a running joke with my friends. “OH, Mr. Fennell - didn’t mean to pull you over”. I don’t know that it was any one thing. Lots of luck, of course. I never admitted to a specific offense but if the question…
Hah. No. Not Tony.
I think my friend’s E63S wagon is supposed to hit cars & bids today. One of a small handful in metallic brown.
I knew women who made under $20/hour insist they had to have a Lexus SUV because otherwise the other moms would mock them.
S60 but not the V? Saw my old V70R out on the road a few weeks ago. 20 years old and I still love it. The buyer seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable enough to deal with it - he arrived in an AWD 6MT BMW wagon (E60? 61? He said it was a really rare combo).
Exactly! I leased a first year Volt (one of the first 1000 VINs) and every asshole on the car forum I frequented at the time went on and on and on about every single detail. The cycle repeated later when I leased a ‘15 compliance-car e-golf.
I’ve never heard of anyone griping about tire pollution until it came time to argue against EVs.
I was in Dublin last November. A sandwich, chips, and a drink were 8 Euro (<$10) at the airport. Walking through JFK many hours later, I paused to do a comparison: $25 for the equivalent.
Just to clarify, $20k was his taxable income. He probably had to pay $700ish in federal tax.
Exactly. It’s RIGHT THERE in the article. He estimated his direct expenses were about $24k but he was actually able to deduct $44k off his gross earnings using the mileage deduction. $20k is the part of his income he had to pay taxes on.
Excellent. I did the same years ago with a Jaguar XJR. The only gotcha with the Jag was that I had to fold the headliner in half to extract it unless I felt like removing the rear window. Switching to black is a nice touch - it would have required sourcing too many matching parts on my car.
