This thread is good Kinja.  Do we still say that?

After a week of complaining about wearing one all day at school, my daughter now forgets all the time until i remind her when we get home.

I made this same point on another forum and got roasted but it’s the truth. Add: plumbers with bad knees, electricians with carpal tunnel. If you’re working on cars all day, there are about a million ways to get hurt.

I was SO happy when it just disappeared.  What a relief!

Unfortunately, you’re 10 years too late!

When I bought my GT3 years back, my friends gave me a ridiculous cap with “911 to the core” on it. I never wore it and they still joke about it.

That’s nice. My scope was about $100 several years ago but it is only barely useful. I think it uses the old 240 line TV standard. The field of view is so narrow that I often have no idea what I’m looking at.

Doublepost

Yeah, that per-diem can rack up!

My daily was a V70R until I got sick of fixing it. :). I settled for buying a Sportwagen 6MT last year and putting an is38 turbo on it. I still have the V70R but it’s FWD now (I replaced the angle gear and collar only to have the electronics die) which is a lot less fun.

Paranoid for a reason. It’s incredible how VW can screw up such basic stuff. My’19 Sportwagen leaks water into the interior from one of the rear doors.

Research? Pfft. The press release is right there!

Random: IROC was based right around the corner from my office in NJ. I went to the auction when they closed up shop in 2008. I accidentally bought a box of hammers.

My buddy owned this one: http://www.kwyjibo.com/r5/ in the early 2000s. It was built up to 230hp and required a 50/50 premium/race gas mix. A 1.4L turbocharged pushrod engine built in the late 80s behaved about as you’d expect. Nothing, nothing, waiting, waiting, WHEEEEEEEEE. 1st gear was way too tall.

A friend of mine used to do that with 1st and 2nd gen RX7 stuff way back in the pre-ebay days. He called me up one day from the pick-n-pull near my home to ask me to store the aluminum hood he just got for $20 that was worth 10X that (or more, it was a long time ago).

So he will spend close to $2 million over the course of two years, with a limit of 2,500 miles per year — and he still won’t own the darn thing.

That’s a great idea.

My garage has 240V coming into it but only 120V outlets. Red to one set of outlets, black to another. I don’t know how common this is but it must have passed inspection at some point. Each set of outlets gets an independent breaker. An electrician declared this dangerous. “What happens if you have 15A at one outlet

I don’t remember the outcome but my brother’s Sienna suffered a similar fate when he was moving to Vancouver Island in Canada. His m-i-l and her boyfriend were driving it up from San Diego for him when it died (somewhere in Oregon IIRC).  Much aggravation ensued.

Good point - I forget how expensive the big GM SUVs are. The pricing actually overlaps with a loaded Escalade.
