I only started watching last year and got caught up with the RTD years from re-runs and netflix. I think you need to be a longtime fan to get into the older shows. People rave about "City of the Dead" but junior-falcons and I couldn't make it past the ten minute mark.

Still not sold.

I should add that you might want to watch the pilot (Netflix has the discs but not streaming) if your suspension of disbelief requires knowing why a mystery writer is working so closely with the NYPD. Otherwise feel free to bounce around as the re-runs allow.
