My father had a 1994 Civic EX sedan that I learned how to drive on. Great car, great VTEC motor, good looks, great economy. I concur with this (even if I think the original Mini is the most cheap and cheerful).

Saw this on German Cars for Sale Blog back in April. Didn't meet the reserve on eBay. No wonder....
I've come across a few decent blogs targeting specific automotive audiences as of late. One of them is similar to Bring A Trailer....German Cars for Sale Blog. The guys over there find a decent amount of unique cars all across the German car spectrum. Worth a read.

Bought a 1998 C230 in 2001 with 32k miles. Drove it until 2007 and had 82k miles when I sold it to a friend. He has almost 190k on it now. Still looks as good as new and never skipped a beat.
Had a MkIV GTI 2.0 5 speed manual (2000 MY) and just thinking about a part on that car would ensure it broke. Window regulators, glove box door falling off, dashboard lights going bezerk....hell, you name it. Engine and trans were the only solid part of that car, sans the de rigeur engine light that would come on…
