The NPR write up talked about her roommate (the one who got the magazine) too, apparently they were both badass Civil Rights/honorific pioneers!

I grew up in the less-rich Philly suburbs, and definitely had a number teachers and friends’ mothers who went by “Ms.”
The way it was taught to me, “Ms.” is for both married and unmarried women, but it’s especially for married women who keep their maiden names. My mother didn’t change her name when she got married, and she refers to herself as a “Ms.”
Thank you for the work you’ve done, and thank you especially for the shade education. Best of luck <3
Is it even possible to go further up once Jamaica fucking Kincaid tells you she loves your work?
So lightweight, so effective, so beautiful...
No, but I think people (especially friends and relatives) tend to compare the time span with how long the deceased and survivor had been married. ItsSmallerOnTheOutside mentioned in other comments that their parents had been together for 40 years.
My grandpa remarried a few years after my grandma died (after 35+ years and a passel of kids), and some of his children thought it was too soon at the time, but 20 years later everyone agrees it was the best thing he could have done. We love his wife. She’s been an amazing addition to the family, a real grandmother…
That art alone is giving me flashbacks to the one w/ the canyon and the people holes and who needs sleep anyway?
Eh, the pledge is a hell of a lot creepier than making sure kids know and understand their founding documents. There are historical/legal reasons to teach the declaration, constitution, etc.
The great thing about it is that it’s a joke but also true at the same time. Schroedinger’s comment.
Did he listen to Bob Dylan? You mentioned “condescending lyrics knowing better than her” and that I swear to god that one Bob Dylan song started playing in my head.
Beautypedia is my skincare bible and that CeraVe stuff is magic. That is all.
Everyone hates the AM formula, but it’s worked really well for me thus far. Once in a blue moon my skin’ll get super dry and peely and I’ll have to double up with the PM stuff or use a salicylic acid thing at night to get rid of the dead skin, but otherwise it keeps my skin soft but not greasy.
If there’s a Nordstrom Rack with a decent lingerie section near you, they might have something. There are two near me, and one has squat but the other’s a fucking gold mine.
Anecdotal evidence, but looser shorts seem to be coming in this year. Not necessarily long, but a decent length and wide and sometimes with a cinchy thing. I bought these and it’s like wearing pajamas.
Yeah, I’m rather surprised anyone’s taking the History Channel seriously.
Bless your heart.
Tbqh, the idea of shaving/waxing/dissolving any further than my bikini line scares the crap out of me. Don’t need razor burn or (god forbid) nicks there, thankyouverymuch.
I’ve heard corsets are actually pretty nice if they fit properly, especially if you’ve got a large bosom. They straighten you up and put the weight of your chest on your hips instead of your shoulder/ribcage.
