I have a friend who got a breast reduction to help her back pain and self-consciousness, and an aunt who got fake breasts so she could feel normal again (post-cancer).

She’s just giving an example where someone’s enjoyment of something that comes from patriarchal beauty standards comes from factors other than the patriarchy. OP said that enjoying said standards was still caving to the patriarchy, no matter the context, and TamTams was just giving an example otherwise. She went…
Please kindly remind them BvS had two premiere superheroes in the title and a third in the actual movie, while Suicide Squad was similarly an ensemble piece.
I participated in high school, one of the teams that helped us a lot when we got started was from an all-girls school, and this is making my blood boil.
Because race is a social construct defined by the society you’re in, and America has a history of slavery. Look at Ellen Craft.
Pretty sure that’s him talking to/about himself, though. It’s general and not directed at Beyonce at the very least.
See there? You’re a part of the problem. I literally learned to drive on a stick shift, have yet to kill a transmission. Either you’re a crappy teacher or it’s a crappy truck. No shame in either, just own it.
100% behind the idea of them singing “To Sir With Love” to their kids at night. Adorable and fitting.
I always liked Blue; it’s not ordinary, but it doesn’t strike me as as super out-there either. You could live a relatively normal life with relatively few weird looks as a Blue. And Ivy, of course, is perfectly normal.
Omg these replies.
That’s a good one. Other solid definitions tend to be based on remembering dial-up/when cell phones became ubiquitous (ie. if you had to teach your parents how to text, maybe before you got your own phone)
Hey hey hey, some of us still learned to drive stick (#notallmillennials). And for those who didn’t, blame the boomer parents for only buying automatics. It’s kind of hard to learn stick when there isn’t one available.
Plus they always conveniently forget that the free market capitalism means there’s a risk of the whole thing collapsing entirely. Which is fine for the handmade quilt market on etsy or whatever, but there are institutions that are too big/necessary/important to risk fucking up like that. If America were really into…
ALSO gobs of cognitive dissonance. Look at that twerp Chaffetz, who came back from a fucking foot surgery to vote for the healthcare bill.
They’re rich enough/have good enough healthcare themselves that they don’t think it’s a problem. A lot of them probably think of themselves as “middle class,” because spending a lot of time around other rich people does that to you. If they can afford a $6000 deductible, why can’t the rest of us slackers?
Ooh, thank you for the rec!
I don’t get how these people sleep at night, I really don’t. It’s a special kind of low, preying on the poor and elderly in the name of “charity.”
A millennial is someone who remembers growing up during all the crazy changes the internet brought (ie. someone who remembers dial-up), so us 24-25 year olds are smack in the middle, maybe towards the younger end of the scale.
During my retail days, the best thing was putting off your break until 2 or 3 (under the guise of “letting everyone else go first”), and then having only 1 or 2 hours left when you got back. Only 1 hour until sweet, sweet freedom.
As a person who’s meal schedule is a little behind everyone else’s, it’s easier to get through a long morning without eating than a long afternoon. I dunno why.
