One of the bakeries is owned by Keebler, so they aren’t going to be any better than what they churn out the rest of the year.

My unpopular (but honest) opinion is that Girl Scout cookies are overpriced garbage. They taste significantly worse than the safeway brand versions, and cost 3 times the price. And they hassle people to buy them.
The cost keeps going up and up. They’re like $5 or more now. They’re good, but not that good.
GS cookies are a scam. Sold by parents to coworkers, (pre 2020) and/or go to my kid’s order page. Teaches the kids nothing and is as good a fundraiser as “collect pull tabs for cancer”. Yes, the same is true for candy bars, popcorn, et al.
All I know is the Thin Mints in the silver/foil sleeve are far superior to the ones in the clear sleeve...
“Aldi sells them year round at less than half the price of GS.”
Samoas are the best but specifically the family dollar version. Has a much better texture. I do remember there was a dulce de leche cookie I really liked which wasa probably my favorite. Thin mints are definitely my least favorite, chocolate toothpaste, no thanks
My wife loves the Tagalongs. I can’t stand them.. the bland peanut butter, the thin waxy chocolate. I’m sure it’s because I grew up in Canada and am used to the Girl Guide cookies and have no childhood association with them. The lemon ones need to be more lemony. The rest are pretty good. I like cookies. I’m not too…
Super Hot take:
It actually is more relevant for LA times since LA/OC is the border between the two bakeries. Back when I worked in an office, the various parents would highlight their kid’s cookies came from which county so people could order accordingly.
I had never tasted Girl Scout Cookies until a few years ago. My son was at toddler soccer and a fellow parent convinced me to buy a box, saying that the Samoas are the best thing ever. “People buy the boxes by the dozen when they come out,” she said. They were not good. I usually eat local bakery cookies or homemade,…
If you don’t want to buy into the lie that your $5 fund the activities of young women and not a big corporation, dont. They don’t make you.
Please, keep fueling my fire.
I’m just sick of coworkers guilting me every time their kids are doing some stupid fundraising, this one isn’t any more special than the popcorn, magazines and wrapping paper.
Not only is Keebler a fine alternative, it’s the exact same cookie.
Yeah I think girl scout cookies are a scam, but I would buy an occasional box - it’s hard to say no when little girls are so enthusiastic about selling them. For older girl scouts, though, I’d just offer the money as a donation to their troop.
As a user in LA county, the bakery thing is super frustrating. I get different bakeries from the same people in different batches. Samoas are very different between the two.
“Donating” to the CEO’s six figure salary is what you’re doing. Troops get $0.75 per $5 box they sell.

Samoas and Thin Mints to the death!
