It’s truly sad to see this as one more example of a slice of New York fading into Nu-St. Mark’s Place. I used to live a block away and was often in the shop to browse. I understand the time change and so does the neighbourhood, but that pocket of the East Village looks increasingly soulless and refurbished by the day.

Trevor Noah doesn’t belong on the header photo. He’s actually one of the only late night hosts (and few hosts in general) to shine in this new filming-from-home format.
And his quarantine hair and beard are still cute.

I had a sauna...at they gym, which is now closed.

Terrific remix (I’m going to add it to my current Spotify playlist). The sign language interpreters absolutely make the video.

Hey, a whole subculture of us figured out the best way to have Nutella is by the spoonful. Why mess it up with a vehicle? No shame at all.

He is a 4.0 student in computer science and he doesn’t know how to use a fucking trash can.

Oh, the bookshop is a hard one because I am someone who can easily spend a few hours browsing and discovering. I prefer the tangible aspect as well as the in-store events. Several of my favourite independent booksellers had to lay off most of their staff rather early on, with the intention of it allowing them to apply

Here we go. Sophomoric, but I laughed because,
A. the children don’t know why these are funny, and
B. because it’s always nice to be reminded that decency standards are different on British and American morning telly (and thank goodness for that).

Further proof Goodman deserves his Oscar nod, already.

I thought the same thing. I think it’s because bakeries and coffee shops where I would normally go for a slice or a whole occasion cake are closed. And baking one myself is tricky because there’s suddenly a mass shortage of flour, eggs, and sugar.

Right. For once, Goopy, something is about you.

Oh my goodness. Do people not realize he’s the wrong sort of doctor? Same with Dr. Phil.

She lived in a van as a struggling musician. It was such a well-worn tidbit of her bio that Ana Gasteyer spoofed it on SNL at one point. #OriginalVanLife

Oh my goodness, that was so good. I only saw that once in passing back in the ‘90s, but I still remember it with crystal clarity to this day.
Goodman, as Tripp: “I think he’s a great actor. I can’t believe he didn’t get nominated for his part in The Big Lebowski.”

What I will not see happen here is folks using anti-Asian racism as a wedge to shit on the work of black writers, or to discount black stories. Absolutely not.

In my city black people (my fucking people) account for 70% of all COVID-19 deaths. Is this on my mind right now? Yes. Am I allowed to take a break from the constant bombardment of articles about the statistical probability of my impending death by reading and enjoying content that sympathetically addresses my daily
