Funny, I was studying for a studio art undergraduate degree when ICO released. I was aware of it via previews from a couple years earlier (it was announced as a PS1 game), and Sony released screens of it a few months before it released. I was immediately taken by the visual design. The only games I had seen at that

Same.

I played the first game when it came out, and like Uncharted 3, I felt very removed from the experience every time I had to engage in enemy encounters from about the halfway point. The last half of the game felt like a chore to play, just to get to see the (wonderful) story.

It’s true. For the past 3-5 years I’ve been playing more and more retro games and fewer new releases. Last year, we moved into a much larger house than the small apartments we had been renting when we had our first child, and we decided to make one of the extra rooms into an office/game room/storage area to keep tiny

I can vouch for the quality of these books as well. I backed the MegaDrive/Genesis book a couple years back and it is absolutely gorgeous (and smells amazing, too).

I’m trying to remain optimistic, so I’ll just pretend this is a sequel to “Lost In Translation” when I watch this next year.

Jurassic Park was actually one of the odd games where the Genesis version was a very different and better game.

Super Mario Moonshine!! With drunken power ups!!!

New 3D Mario adventure will sell me on this thing. I’m still disappointed that 3D World was all we got on Wii U.

Finally! I’m psyched to see what all the secrecy has been about.

Thumper, DQVII, Secret of Mana

Secret of Mana and Dragon Quest VII :D

Everything I wanted to say about the matter. If I’m playing with friends online- we schedule it via email about a week in advance and only a few times per year.

Wow. I wasn’t interested in the US version- but I’m importing this for the form factor and Kunio Kun titles alone! Way cool.

Hey! You forgot- oh, wait, no- you nailed it. I literally own every game on this list. I can think of a couple extra games worth adding, but we’re only allowed so many on “The Bests”. Great list :)

I remember seeing a Japanese N64 in a Blockbuster Video demo station with Mario 64 in July of 1996. I was almost 15 and I already had a PS1- but I was very curious about the N64 and I was very aware of Mario 64 due to extensive coverage during the holiday ‘95 trade show coverage in magazines. I was absolutely blown

Oh, I’ll get it.

*High fives*

Been meaning to pick up the new Doom. I missed the $20 sale last week, so I’ll just keep waiting, I guess. Dragon Quest VII is the next game to pick up on my list (until the next Doom sale).

This is a great example. What a repetitive bore of a game- and I'm a big fan of Zelda. I spent at least 25-30 hours doing the same things and revisiting the same locations before I walked away. Although I thought Twilight Princess was a pretty weak entry, too. But it was a MUCH better game than Skyward Sword.
