Lots of musicians know who the Rolling Stones are and still don't find them relevant.

The game looks pretty generic to me. The character design is totally uninspired and forgettable and the boss battle looks forced and the dialog writing sounds heavy handed. Granted, they didn't show very much gameplay, so I can't tell how well it plays from the video. If it plays amazingly well, then the rest can be

Everything you said is so true. About both Sony and Nintendo, right now. Someone let me know when Pikmin 3 is finally out *hummph!*

Indeed it was (there were a few American-made gems, but they were (and remain) the exceptions).

Oh man, you just convinced me to go see what I have, and there's nearly 70 games I've still held onto for the old PS2 (after selling some of the games I didn't like). I don't think I want to type them all out- but I may have to revisit a bunch of them pretty soon...

I'm cautiously optimistic too, but let's wait and see what their definition of "affordable" is before we start partying in the streets ;)

Well then thanks again for the other track. Those weather effects were pretty astounding (even if they were exaggerated for an exciting "arcade" effect). I can see why they were concerned about whether or not all the onscreen action might be a little too much, though. That storm level actually looked really intense.

Glad to hear it. I'm becoming pretty good at the stealth (and stealth executions), and I'm not really developing as quickly at mele/combat. These guys always looked pretty intimidating to me based on preview trailers and such- so I'm glad to know that while they are tough- they'll be easy to sneak around undetected :)

Thanks for the working link. Game actually looks beautiful even at this early stage. A real shame that those dickheads at Activision closed the studio :(

I just finished the first full mission of the game. Haven't seen these brutes yet (and I'm not looking forward to it) but the game is pretty great, so far :)

This.^^

Funny he should mention releasing staples over and over again to the point of self-destruction. This coming from the indie game guy who keeps retreading the same point and click adventure tropes from over 20 years ago :)

Seriously (and I'm assuming your comment about Japan not having a massive doujin scene was sarcastic)- the sadly ironic thing about so much of this negative Japanese-game-bashing from young western indie game developers is that sooooooooo many of them are just ripping off classic platforming and zelda-esque adventure

I agree with a lot of what you're saying- but my negative reaction to his quote remains specifically focused on his use of Super Mario Galaxy 2 as some kind of example of lazy game design. He literally picked the worst possible Nintendo sequel to use for his example and it makes him look like an idiot or a hypocrite

Because the rest of the article states that there are indeed other publishers interested in some or all of THQ's assets. This quick sale was obviously arranged in order to net more money for the current heads of THQ before they went bankrupt and lost control to their shareholders.

The fact that there is immediate interest from other parties in the publishing world actually makes me very happy. I'm not particularly a big fan of THQ- I think the only game of theirs I bought in the past decade was the first Darksiders- but I'm not excited to see any game publisher go out of business (nor do I want

Comparing Mario 64 to Sunshine to Galaxy is really like comparing apples to oranges. They are all separated by hardware generations and at least 5 years or more between each game. Galaxy 2 is a direct sequel on the same hardware (none of the other titles mentioned had direct sequels), therefore it should be expected

Exactly. He's either a humongous hypocrite, or he has no idea how ironic such a comment sounds coming from his own mouth.

That's nice except that "New Super Mario Bros." games (there's like 4 of them, now!) are not even in the same league as the "Super Mario Galaxy" games. People are taking issue specifically with the game he chose to deride in his comment. Did you even play Super Mario Galaxy 2? At the end of your comment you said that

Agreed. For every great indie game, there are literally 1,000 terrible ones. And most of them rely on little more than retro/intentionally D.I.Y.- looking flash visuals to accomplish something that rarely adds up to a final product greater than the sum of their obvious influences: the classic games of 20 years ago.
