I just hope we actually get to explore some tombs in this game. That E3 gameplay trailer looked like a linear walk through enemy lines, ala Uncharted.

And really, until we get our hands on it, I don't see any reason to preemptively hate on this game. It's exactly what Kojima always wanted. The game was always going to be an over-the-top thrill ride. I wonder if people forgot that Raiden saved the day by killing a bunch of giant, deadly robots by attaching a sword to…
It's not a reboot. It's a side game that takes place in the same universe. It's a side game that doesn't alter or reboot the story line out of respect for the core series. Kojima Productions is still guiding the story here, and they said that they will explain the connection to Metal Gear Solid 4 during the game. All…
LOL- I totally agree about the sword unlock in Bayonetta. It was by far my favorite weapon and it has since become the core of my arsenal in all subsequent playthroughs. I can't wait to see what they do in a game like this with a huge budget and a fantastic world full of awesome characters and back story to draw from…
Until you've played the game, you can't say that this spits on Raiden's story in Metal Gear Solid 4.
Hearted. Your common sense and good taste shines through in your comment.
fans are stupid. I'm almost embarrassed to call myself a MGS fan in light of the fan backlash against this game. They were so excited about this game when it was coming straight out of Kojima Productions, and then when the game went dark for 2 years, they were sure it would all turn out just fine. Kojima…
I'm wondering why- if it's finished- Sega isn't releasing it right around now. Summer is a great time to release multiplayer games, as a lot of young people are out of school, and there is very little competition from big blockbuster titles.
I love pretty much everything that Clover/Platinum has made (including Bayonetta) and I love Metal Gear. I cannot wait for this game. I am so bummed that it got delayed until next year, but I think the extra time is going to allow for them to make an even better game. So excited for this one.
I think from a developer/publisher standpoint, yes- the LIVE marketplace is a much more flexible environment. The fact that there is a place for indies and every game has a demo is a huge advantage to them as well as customers. Hopefully Sony learns from them in the next generation (but doesn't try to charge for…
There are more small, quirky, third-party PS3 games now- in 2011 and 2012, since MS has shifted it's focus toward Kinect, and social/streaming services- away from games.
There is something to be said for being first, but I really don't think timing actually predicted much this generation. All 3 consoles released within a window of a year. Compared to the previous generations, The PS1 released after the Sega Saturn and was an unproven brand. The PS2 released over a year after the…
I think the early launch and high price-point are almost non-issues at this point. Sony adjusted the price and mostly closed the sales gap nearly 3 years ago. I think the real hurdle for Sony this gen has been games. Xbox has managed to capitalize on major franchises in ways that Sony has failed to do. Sony has a much…
Thanks for posting this awesome article. Did you happen to ask whether or not it would be region locked? I'm sure it will be, but I can always hope...
Man, I was waiting and waiting for this to come out on PSP years ago. I don't think it ever came out in the US and import copies are unfortunately extremely expensive (Darius games are very cool, but they're generally pretty average by shooter standards- not worth $100+ to me). I wonder if Taito/Square Enix will…
Sounds like you haven't spent much time with the series in the last 15 years or so. It's in a league all it's own.
You know, most of the early games on the Game Gear were actually ports of Sega Master System games. The device was pretty much a miniature SMS with a screen and battery-powered. Although once Sega retired the Master System, the Game Gear started getting more original games and down-ported Genesis games.
LOL- When I was young, I thought it was "Ha ha ha ha ha! That's that!"
there was definitely vomit. Arcade, SNES, and Genesis versions of SFII all had the vomit :)
Yeah, I'm not sure how it works, either. Maybe they only sent it out to stores that consistently have strong sales of Wii/DS software. Or maybe if there was more than one preorder at the store, they went ahead and ordered extra copies.
