It's from Sri Lanka. They do have human rights protections for the mining industry, but there's no way to really know the ethics of this particular stone.

GOD YES. I fucking HATE destination weddings. I love to travel, but I'd rather gnaw off my own arm than go to some god forsaken all-inclusive resort in cancun (ok, maybe that's a bit dramatic, but I have some big ethical issues with all-inclusives).

I think she's very brave and amazing for using her celebrity to inform women about these health issues. One thing I really liked about the original piece though was that she wrote it in such a way as to be very understandable to people who aren't med students - anyone reading this can understand because she left out the jargon. I really liked that about the piece.
