That game was like an acid trip for me - one bad flashback after another. The ‘80 NLCS v. Phillies (Astros’ bullpen and Nolan freaking Ryan falling apart); the ‘86 NLCS v. Mets (the Astros blowing a 9th inning lead to send it to Mike Scott and Game 7, only to tie in the bottom of the inning, only to then again blow it

The unfortunate flip side to so many mashed taters is a mound visit every 5 pitches to ask why so many taters are getting mashed.

holding up at third because the Dodgers apparently don’t have clear signals for loud stadiums

I’m a neutral fan and this game has me shook. I don’t care if the baseballs are juiced, that was awesome.

Two perspectives from earlier. I’m too tired to comprehend the historical significance here.

It’s actually not at all the same thing, but thanks for playing!

My son played last year at age 8, for the first time. 3 full contact practices per week, teammates who played games in casts after injuries.... all kinds of bullshit. He’s now a soccer player.

Found John Rocker’s Kinja handle.

We’d just finished watching Spider-Man: Homecoming (great little flick BTW) and I switched on CBS to catch the end of the game...and I had NO IDEA it would be so insane. Two untimed downs? OPI and back-to-back holding? Two booth reviews? An extra point that looked at first like it hooked wide right?

Trump’s not rich.

He won’t respond to Pop. Trump only publicly goes after people he knows he can bully into submission, who can’t fight back or who choose not to respond to Trump’s personal attacks.

Anyone who has dodged the draft five times, regardless of their station in life, has no right to talk about anything to do with the military. I am a vet. Not bragging. Just saying. My feet hurt but I served anyway.

I really hope the overripe tangerine makes the mistake of trying to take on Pop in the media.

Trump is such an aggressive affront to basic intelligence and common decency that his existence in the White House should elicit this sort of reaction from everyone with a public platform. That fucking craven opportunists wimp away behind anonymity and obstinate partisanship is maybe an even worse development than

Also the fact that he actually said he wrote letters to the soldiers but hadn’t mailed them yet.

I mean Pop’s just saying what we are all thinking. 😎

If Donald Trump’s was 100 times the man he is now, he still wouldn’t be 1% the man Gregg Popovich is.

There’s a subtle thing here that’s especially lovely: Pop’s the US Men’s National coach for the rest of Trump’s term. And that fucking RULES.

It makes absolutely no sense. For a manager with Maddon’s “cerebral” reputation, he screwed the pooch royally. Honestly, he’s been a making a lot of really weird, bad bullpen decisions since game six of the World Series last year.
