It’s amazing how much editorializing a headline can actually do. I didn’t even read the article but I knew exactly what the author wanted me to think.

Ah, no that makes total sense. I’ve done a lot of trading over the years on Reddit and I know people tend to be very specific about which Pokeball they want their Pokemon to have.
I’ve just gotten back into Scarlet/Violet after being kind of turned off by the look of it and the backlash when it dropped. One of the biggest and most immediate turnoffs was when I went up to a store front to enter the building and it switched to a menu where I could buy things. Yeah, thanks, but let me GO INSIDE…
You pretty much nailed it, but you’re never gonna convince people in the “all paid DLC is bad” camp.
Part of the issue is that you can’t just pay $6 and get one costume. You have to pay $10 to buy the tokens to get that one costume, at which point you’re stuck with extra tokens. So theoretically unless you’re buying exactly 5 costumes for $30 (or the next multiple up) you’re carrying around extra tokens.
No, I don’t think that’s right. SF4's costumes weren’t that cheap. At least upon launch they were probably closer to $4-5 each. And I think they typically sold them in packs, so you’d get 5 or 6 costumes for maybe $25-30. Later on after they’d been out for a while they might have bundled them and it equaled $2, but…
I don’t know. I kind of liken it to people who run marathons but aren’t actual marathon runners. It’s like a shock to the system or trying to prove you can do something hard. I don’t get it personally, but there are a ton of people like that because I know several of them and my social circle is tiny.
...getting frisky is probably the last thing anybody is going to attempt in an open room surrounded by 300+ random people.
I live in L.A. and don’t use it much, but man am I thankful for it when I do need it. Usually the dry, “cold” months. But yeah I had an ex who wouldn’t leave the house without it ever.
What worries me about Avatar is that this is the first time I’m even hearing about it. Granted, I don’t pay as much attention to video game news as I used to and have been living under a rock for a few months, but an Avatar game similar to Far Cry should’ve been all over the place I would think.
This is nothing new bro. 20 years ago I was absolutely in love with Star Wars: Galaxies, despite it having an absolute ton of problems. Most of it was the people I was playing with, but a lot of it was just still enjoying the game and, of course, Star Wars. I was bitching about it then and playing every damn day like…
Missed the point.
Hmm. I thought this one was my primary console. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll check on that.
The biggest examples I can think of from my own experience are the TMNT and X-Men arcade games. Both were pulled from the digital stores and are unavailable now. I think there was a Turtles in Time remake too that you just can’t get anymore. The Punch Out remake on the Wii too I believe. Just remembered that one.
I don’t really know what it’s like because thank god I’m not in that Roblox/Fortnite ecosystem, but one of my friends has it going on with his kid. I don’t remember the specific situation, but the kid wanted to spend some obscene amount of digital currency on something that was clearly not worth it at least from an…
I remember back 20+ years ago when game systems were just starting to get on the internet and thinking how awesome it would be if studios could take your favorite games and add more to them via additional content. Now that we’re there (and then some) it’s unfortunate that a lot of the time they’re giving you less in…
I’m an almost 100% digital convert just because I can get it at 9PM the night before release and I don’t have to collect more physical shit, but I don’t love the fact that they can limit access to it down the line. I especially don’t like what Nintendo does where I can’t even play Mario Wonder outside of my house…
Thank goodness. He was terrible in the preview.
For me it felt like Hogwarts was a surprise for people because they didn’t expect it to be any good at all. When it came out and was actually made competently, I think it surprised people and inflated the reviews. It seems like the narrative as time went on is that it was a good game, not a great game, and undeserving…
I’ve been playing since launch with some breaks here and there, but for me the game is still fun. It’s the first and only online shooter I’ve ever been any good at where I feel like I’m contributing and a good teammate. I don’t really ever get bored because if I get tired of playing a certain character or set of…
