I know Harmon has made mistakes, but I’m always happy that he has a complete self awareness of his own faults and seems to make genuine efforts to improve himself.

There was no real need beforehand for us to know what Roiland's creative involvement was. Given that Roiland did the central voices and was essentially the face of the franchise, he was protected a lot.

Well, my point was less about the need to occasionally show brutality in popular entertainment (for instance, the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan should be required viewing, IMO, even for kids in middle school, because it shows better than almost every other war movie what actual combat is like), and more about

thats gotta suck so bad.

He wasn’t this season’s “most controversial contestant” because of the strike; it was because people kept confusing him with the fascist podcaster of the same name.

Well said. I never need to see Schindler’s List again, but there will always be people who need to see Schindler’s list.

Exactly. It was already a LOT.

Yeah that would be a pretty different movie, wouldn’t it?  I was just inspired to go back and watch the raid scene with the mask discussion, which is comedy gold.

I accidentally read that as “sorry, too much camp” and was seriously concerned about your definition of camp lol.

There was already enough awfulness on screen in Django that I have to think this would have risked a NC-17 rating. It may also have pushed potential audiences into the “sorry, too much” camp.

I could live a long, happy life without ever seeing another rape depicted in a movie or television show.

If I didn’t know about all the behind-the-scenes stuff, I wouldn’t even notice it was new voice actors in that trailer. A little part of me was secretly hoping they’d jump out of a portal with radically different voices and go: “Well, guess we sound like this now.”

A few random thoughts:

Not bad. We are really going to see how much of this came down to Roiland’s acting versus the writing. While despite everything, we have to give Roiland credit for the idea and how the characters were developed, I have a feeling the writers have been in control for a bit both based upon the plot lines (look at how

Aaaaaaaand they sound pretty damn near identical, so all those children crying on Reddit will chill now right? The “heart” of the show, these two dumbass, easily replicated voices, sound about the same, the show is back, and the same, right?

Yeah, Morty is pretty dead on. Rick is slightly less raspy/beltchy. But that is not a big deal and I am sure most would stop noticing after a bit if they really cared at all.

Sounds the same to me.

I’ll take her at her word that they did. But it’s a separate issue from people not liking the movie, or implying that the reason you don’t is you are a bad human being.

No, the argument is that it was a convenient excuse for the cast and director to dismiss any valid criticism of the movie as sexism.

That Spielberg fella sucked. Mediocre novels by Crichton and Benchley, and then the Holocaust? yawn...
