We’re arguing the same point dude. Maybe I worded it awkwardly for you but I was basically saying the same thing: outside of the US, tipping generally isn’t a thing.

It’s a finely honed skill.

I know that future generations are going to have a bunch of shit to look back on scorn with us for, but I do think that the level of absolute waste of resources is going to be a major one. And we don’t even have a good enough reason.

I think more fibrous plant matter is going to take longer to compost, but you’re basically right. If its any form of organic material, under the right conditions it can compost. It should be noted that there is apparently a difference between composting and simply rotting though.

Pretty sure if it can rot it can compost. As someone who used to bus tables, a lot of the time we’d scrap food scraps and one-use paper products into a separate bin anyway, so whats the difference if it goes into a special receptacle for composting as opposed to a dumpster? Hell in most of the country restaurants are

This is excellent. This should be the standard everywhere, rather than the exception. Also, it could potentially have positive ripple effects if applied more widely. How you ask? Well, if restaurants, in an attempt to cut down on food waste, were to start ordering more conservative amounts of food, this would

No, no, can’t have that. Nevermind that most everywhere else basically does things this way outside of America. Much like single payer medicine and the metric system, we can’t do things that way because of reasons. What are those reasons? Don’t ask me to explain, its much too complicated.

Didn’t he just basically describe tip pooling?

Ah, well thank god i don’t have to do boring shit like rely on statistics or anything. Not when I can just take your word for it. No chance at all that your personal experience might be an outlier among tipped servers in general and not indicative of larger trends. And even less chance that you might just be lying

I’ve never been in a bar fight. Because I know how to go out and have a drink and still act like a civil person. I’ve been adjacent to other people acting like fools at a bar, but not directly involved.

The little 5 minute horror shorts on Hulu are actually pretty good for what they are. I especially liked ‘The Hug’. Just confirmed my childhood aversion to Chuck-E-Cheese was right all along. Of course, you could argue its a rip off of the premise of Five Nights at Freddies.

Cheese water balloon?

There is a reason the ‘Used Sex Toy Market’ isn’t a thing... I’m all for people getting their rocks off how they please (rape excluded, natch), but just fucking ew...

A racehorse walks into a bar,

Really it should be put out to pasture.

Like a lot of issues with labor in this country, this needs to be done from a regulatory standpoint. Make it law that all staff must make at least the minimum wage and leave it at that. The restaurant industry will not go under. Yes, some (poorly managed) individual restaurants will, but the industry as a whole will

He should have just addressed Joe Manchin directly.

Came to say the same thing: as a particular food item becomes ‘trendy’ the price goes up. Another example are chicken thighs. They were once relegated as an inferior part of the chicken, are suddenly not as cheap as they once were these days. It used to be, I could pay about $5 for a huge pack of them (like anywhere

My first experience with ox tails was at a little Jamaican restaurant in New Jersey many years ago. They were delicious and tender, served with peas and rice, collards and fried plantains.
